For our first holiday my boyfriend and I decided to go to egypt. As a young couple, we are both students and were a bit strapped for money. We wanted something pretty cheap , when we booked the Luna we thought it looked lovely.LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING, and the hotel looks nothing like the pictures shown. The best thing about the holiday is that we met some lovely couples , we only started talking to them because they had similar problems. This was not an uncommon theme as we had the same conservation with around 7/8 different families/ couples. We arrived at the luna sharm on new years eve greeted by the receptionists who informed us if we wanted to eat at the hotel that night , we had to pay 250 Egyptian pounds each (£25 each) , As we were all inclusive , we couldnt quite understand why. The time was already around 8.00pm and we were tired from the long day of travelling, as well as not knowing what else was around, so we decisions to eat. To be honest it was horrible , it looked like this huge buffet but the food was unbelievably disgusting. Myself and Harry had one plate to eat and barely touched it. To top the dinner off , the bar closed at 9pm, even tho we were all inclusive and the bar staff were still in the hotel. After one evening meal at the hotel the next day we realised that all the food was the same and most of it left over from new years eve, if you enjoy stale bread you'd be fine. As a couple you like to enjoy dinner time for an hour or two with a few drinks , in the Luna you'd be in and out of the restaurant within 5 minutes. The food consisted of dry chicken , beef that was like eating jelly, cold rice and pasta and stale bread. Many people had bad stomachs because of eating it. Due to this we ended up spending around £200 on food which we did not expect to spend. We asked The manager, Mr Maher, for some kind of a refund for new years eve as we thought it was appalling , after an hour of my other half arguing with him he agreed to £15 out of £50. Never in my life have I met a manager so rude and disrespectful towards his paying customers. Also The Receptionist Ali was rude and unhelpful. We wanted to speak to the manager again, as we had problems with the food , and we were sick and tired of spending our hard earned money on food when we took it on holiday to pay for excursions , once again Mr Maher, Brushed us off and told us to talk to our tour operator. After hearing this the assistant manager had a discussion with us , another couple and a lady who had came on holiday with her family ,after chatting to him he sent people to our room to sort things out that were wrong. He was very helpful and nothing like his useless tosser of a manager. If you have booked be aware that the bar closes at 10pm and your wristbands get cut off at 12pm on day of departure, the pool is freezing cold and constantly empty, oh and there is entertainment once a week , a fat belly dancer and a man who dances in a skirt. Reda the barman was very nice and helpful and if you get a taxi anywhere Nemo, the taxi driver and his colleagues in reception couldn't do enough for you. On the upside to the bad food , Naama bay is a 5minute taxi drive and there is some lovely restaurants on the strip our favorite being Kanebesh, the staff there are very appreciative and helpful. McDonalds, KFC and Burger King are 10-15min walk to Il Merkato and The Tavern 2 is a 2 minute walk, right out of the hotel. Overall apart from the hotel, which you tend not to spend too much time in , we had a nice break, but would not recommend the Luna Sharm.
