When arriving at the hotel we could not get a room without mold unless we payed extra! The air conditioning did not work and the management was very unhelpful! The sheets were stained and dirty, and the showers had mildew on them. The kitchen are looked like someone just cooked for a family of 12. The walls were stained yelow from smoke and mold and also had holes in certain areas. The only thing that was clean was the floor. The area around the building smelled like urine. I would not reccomend this hotel/resort to anyone i liked!!!!!

I went to Egypt on a last minute break with a friend for a week in the sun that wouldn't cost too much and we definitely got that at the Delta Sharm. Before going, I was dreading the hotel after reading the mixed reveiws it has received here. However, I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was a luxury apartment overlooking the smaller all inclusive pool, and was very modern with a handy kitchenette, which weant we had own our fridge and kettle. Yes, the resort is huge, and you will have to walk for around 10 minutes to get to the restaurant, but this really is no hardship when you are on holiday and have no need to rush! We spent our week mainly at the smaller pool, where the staff were lovely and great fun, bringing us drinks and food all day long - Hassan the barman is awesome.

Yes, the food served at the main restaurant is boring, and there is only so much chicken and rice you can eat - but the drinks are fine (although limited in choice) and they never ran out at the bar.

Most importantly - you do get what you paid for. We didn't pay much for our accommodation, so knew the food wasn't going to be amazing, but it is so cheap to eat out its not really the end of the world.

Security was not an issue - we felt very safe in our room and the presence of security guards patrolling the resort added to this. We were not once harassed by the staff - which was great as we felt that we were constantly harassed whenever we ventured out into the town.

The resort of Naama Bay itself is not the most glamourous of towns - very touristy with casinos and restaurants like Hard Rock, which add to the impression of a resort that is still developing.

Be prepared to be ripped off - I can pretty much guarantee that you will be at least once! Taxi drivers are notorious for this so always agree a price before you get in the cab.

Overall, it is important to go to Egypt with an open mind - as a muslim country it is very different to most places that I have visited on holiday, and the Egyptians have a very laid back attitude to life - which really can't be too much of a bad thing, especially if, like us, you want a relaxing week and a great tan!

“2nd time for us!”

Delta Sharm Resort

1 Jun 2008

This is the second time we have stayed at delta sharm, we rented the same appartment from a nice english couple, who we met up with for a drink on the complex the fisrt day we got there, great appartment, fantastic location right next to the pool, friendly pool staff and they remembered us from last year and even remembered the childrens names!!! we have already booked up again for next year so i guess you can say we enjoyed it yet again. New super market opened on the resort, we found that very good.

On our arrival at the delta sharm we encountered our first problem - we were supposed to be in a room overlooking the lovely pool but were put in a room with a well tarmac'd roadside view - it only took the very unhelpful reception staff a week to show us some pool view rooms this after 4 visits and endless phone calls + false promises of returning our calls. but seeing as the room we'd been put in to start with was twice sometimes 3 times the size ov what they'd eventually show'd us we decided to stay put. the room was a delux suite which you do pay extra for but well worth the £30 for 2 weeks - with a king size bed and full kitchen amenaties ie cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine - it was plenty and more for my girlfriend and i except the concrete views.

the following morning we made our way to the restaurant 4 breakfast - that morning and every morning after that for the 2 weeks we were there we had the same repetative choices to eat. even lunch and eveing meals were the same - if you love chicken and rice then youll love the menu. unfortunately there was very little in the way of fruit if any at all. on a plus side the the restaurant staff were very friendly and always curteous.

most ov mine and the girlfriends time was spent at the pool side by complex 182 which we thought had the nicest pool and friendly bar staff ( go see Braheim and hassan there they are lovely and will look after you....) obviously tips are going to get you that little bit extra.

unfortunatly the main bar by the restaurant the bar staff werent so friendly - they had issues with giving you a drink if u didnt bring your glass back to the bar or hadnt quite finished the last 1 - im sure this has been enforced by the management but speaking to so many unhappy people about there service they will do well to listen as this attitude has put people off going back again and word ov mouth is priceless for repeat business.

we went on a few trips ie cairo which we decided to fly as 9hrs on the coach would have drove me nuts. it was an experience - nothing like i imagined but glad i did it - we paid £132 for flight - lunch when we got there and a museum trip along with the pyramids and sphinx and a perfuem shop never to forget. that also included our guide who was the most passionate man i think ive ever met - he didnt stop from the moment we got off the plane til we got on.... i will update this and tell u his name as have totally forgotten. he made our day so much more.... he worked for medhotels.com and you will know who he is who im talking about as soon as he gets u on the coach - lol
also did the star gazer which we enjoyed even if saturn looked like it was a cut out - make sure u take ur camera and get him to take pics ov the moon for you - they really are cool pics...

i could rabbit on and on but all in all i enjoyed my stay in eygpt - even if the food was repetative and the drinks werent forthcoming. we had a nice room and enjoyed lazing by the pool in the very hot dry heat. only a few staff we found unhelpful which were the reception staff and main restaurant bar staff......

its very cheap to go eat out so plz go venture out of your complexs and see naama bay and we def reccommend the lido restaurant - a lovely sea front restaurant.... watch the unbelievable sea life pass u by

ps - make sure u go see old sharm - alot cheaper and more authentic

    • Liked — our room was fine but we paid extra for the delux suite - not everybody we spoke to had nice rooms

Arrived at sharm airport what a nightmare very enclosed lines queing for everythng everywhere. Managed to find our tour rep for our transfer I would say though its a hell of a lot cheaper to book a taxi then pay for transfers typical british been ripped off as always from airport to hotel should cost you no nore than 60 egyptian pounds £6, always haggle though this is part of the whole idea its a bit of fun once you get use to it. when going in to namma bay always try and use the shuttle that is provided as it saves alot of hassle by the taxi rank gets a little nasty down there if you keep saying no if you do say yes they lead you away little scary. anyway onto Delta Sharm, we stayed in building 113 room 103 right overlooking the ali baba pool, the room was a 1 bed apartment groundfloor it was very spaciuos and clean, hide your loo roll so they definately give you a new one each day the amount of times we had to take one from the restaurant :-), next port of call the restaurant when we arrived on 27th may the food was outside in the silver dishes which were heated by tea lights! nothing was labelled hadnt got a clue what I was eating but the food griped me after 1 week rice rice and more rice great if you love rice i do but wow enough is enough. they are very stingy with drinks with pop being served warm and in plastic glasses it was drink it then you can get another! take advantage of the snack menu tastes better than the stuff the serve up at lunch in the resturant. Most of staff were pleasent but did think that AI got treated not as well as the paying customers even though weve'd paid up front. Pool areas were nice main pool is warm and spacious. be carfeul in namma bay as alot of people will walk up to you saying hello english then they will introduce themselves and lead you away to there shop please say no as we were pretty much made to feel we had to buy a painting it was lovely but he said they were his own it was our first nite in egypt hadnt got a clue when we bought it and got out of there we went past 10 shops atleast selling the same stuff!! any thing else we can help you with let us know. there are plenty of shops on complex and its huge!! been a girl myself love to wear wedge shoes be very careful as its crazy paved everywhere nearly broke my neck :-(. would recommend anyone to do snorkelling its amazing quad trip is excellant too, aqua park aqua park is the name of it is ok lots of slides if you dont like slides dont go to this one I didnt try cleo park in namma so can tell you about that but reasonably cheap dont book with rep just go by taxi cheaper.
