Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Reef Oasis and all I can say it is absolutely heaven. Having read some of the reviews before we travelled I honestley dont understand how anyone could not have a fab time. Let me take this opportunity to explain a little more in detail:-
AIRPORT - arrived late 26/2, no problems with passport control and coach transfers very well organised. From landing till arrival of the hotel was just over 30mins.
HOTEL - Fantastic. When off the coach our luggage was left in a desinated areas whilst we were advised to check in. Staff very friendly and welcomining. We were escorted to our rooms in buggys and told our luggage would follow (which it did within 10 mins) Very hassle free.
ROOMS - we had paid for a deluxe room and that was exactly what we had. Spacious, clean and huge comfy bed which was changed everyday. Bottled water was provided every day (1 large and 2 small) Mini bar service changed whilst we were there - you are now provided with tickets so you could exchange them daily at the shop on site for 6 cans of soft drinks of you choice. This we found brilliant as we could just stock up on the ones we drunk.
The bathroom had a huge walk in shower with plenty of hot water. Toiletries were provided and restocked when low. Fresh towels everyday.
FOOD - this is where previous reviews have really annoyed me. The choice of food was fantastic. we have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels in the uk and the Reef oasis is on the same par. People have to remember the hotel caters for a number of nationalities therefore there will be a few dishes that wont be appealling. However, you could not go hungry and the food offered was of a high standard. Some people are obviously hard to please! Let me explain in more detail about the resturants.
BAY VIEW - this is the main buffet style restuant. Plently to choose from. Breads are out of this world. Lovely salads. Choice of lots of hot meals and obviously the usual chips, pizza etc. We do recommend the freshly cooked pasta whereby you choose the type of pasta, followed by choice of sauce and extras (best pasta dishes I have ever tasted). Ice cream was included in the AI unlike what some reviews had said. Desserts - well there were so many to choose from lovely !
At breakfast the choice of pastries and breads were amazing. No one could possibly go hungry as everyone is catered for. In fact I looked forward to breakfast here every morning.
ITALIAN - Lovely, plenty to choose from in the AI package but things like steak there was an extra charge (but isnt that the same with most resturants). Alcoholic drinks were included in the AI however if you wanted a different choice of wine then you were charged.
FISHERMANS - as part of the deluxe room deal we were able to have breackfast at this resturant. Very very nice. Fresh orange juice was included in the AI (unlike in other resturants) freshly cooked eggs to order, pancakes, waffles, toast, jams, absolutely everything - you could not go hungry.
SEA BREEZE - Set just up from the beach it had stunning views accross the red sea and definately worth a visit. Food good although we only ate here once as loved the buffet.
FRENCH RESTURANT - didn't try it but only because we ran out of time but it looked lovely inside - this is the only resturant whereby you are charged.
Thats enough of the food......now the swimming pools. I just wait to make this point before I go further following the reviews I had read before we travelled. When the temp reaches mid 30's why do you need to have heated pools. The thought of jumping into a luke warm one just wouldn't cool you down!
RELAX POOL - this is strictly for 18 and over and this is always enforced. We spent most of our holiday here as we had left the kids at home with grandparents and just wanted to relax.
Fresh towels were provided and changed whenever you wanted. Pool staff friendly and very funny. Relax Pool bar staff excellent and always smiled. In the mornings you could get continental breakfast, lunch was a selection of freshly made rolls and pizza, afternoon was cakes - these were all part of the AI and on a help yourself basis.
We tipped the Towel boys on the first day and asked them to reserve beds for us as we liked a particular spot however, there were plently of sunbeds for everyone so no need to reserve unless you like a particluar bed. Water was not heated but trust me when you are sweating in the heat the cold pool is lovely and to be honest once you are in it isnt a problem.
INFINITY POOL - this was heated and so busy during the day - lovely pool but not my choice as we went to relax and have space not sunbathe like packed sardines.
KIDS POOL WITH SLIDES - didnt use this as had no kids with us but went to have a look and it was brilliant for families. large play area with paddling pool. A large swmming pool with I think it was 3 different slides. Plenty of entertainment for kids and adults. Bar and food available also.
There are also a number of other pools near the inifity pool which are not heated but have lovely views accross the red sea. Plenty of sunbeds at all the pools.
BEACH lovely, clean and very clear water. Due to the coral you can only paddle in designated areas. However, you can swim, snorkle or dive off the jettys which have ladders into the sea. Plenty of fish to be seen (even in the paddling areas). Water warm and crystal clear. There is a cafe under the Sea Breeze Resturant on the week with provides usual chips, pizza, sausages etc. Plenty of sunbeds and beach towels provided.
BARS - only went to the Carrabian Bar as we loved it. Staff excellent, gave them a couple of pounds on the first night and they remembered us from then on. Our glasses were filled before they were empty. The staff were very funny and had an excellent sense of humour loved them! We just drank the local spirts which were fine, in fact I preferred their Bacardi and the measures were fantastic contray to what some have written about them being watered down.....no way!! I was definately drinking proper stuff.
SPA - had a facial treatment which was lovely and very reasonable. Staff Lovely and friendly. The facilities are excellent. I used the Gym but only once as I couldnt be bothered and this is was to a high standard. The Hydra pool is lovely. Definately worth a visit.
TIPPING - we took lots of pound coins and that was fine. The staff never expected it but we did it on a daily basis mainly because we wanted too. They were all very grateful however, I am sure we would of received the same service even if we didn't tip.
STAFF - the nicest people I have ever met. Having been to Cairo before and had an awful time with the Egyptians (ie very pushy) I always said I would never go back to Egypt. However, having been at the Reef Oasis and meeting the staff it has completly changed my views. They will do anything to make your stay enjoyable and you literally want for nothing.
Overall ,all we can say is you really must go and experience this hotel. My only downside is that we had to leave.........would of loved to of stayed but my kids were missing us ha ha. Will we go back ?........absolutely, definately YES WE WILL.
