After reading all the reviews for the hotels surrounding, this sounded like the best resort to stay at in Sharm.
On arrival to the resort, the staff were helpful and friendly, drinks on arrival and took our luggage to our room. The resort is really spacious, everything is on one level and was an excellent layout.
The standard room which we stayed in was big and very clean, bathroom was also big, with a bath made for 2. The air conditioning in the room is excellent. The rooms are kept very clean, fresh towels and bed made everyday. No complaints at all.
The pool is massive and kept very clean, there is loads of space surrounding the pool. There are loads of sunloungers surrounding the pool and there was never a time when the pool or surroundings were crowded. Most of the time we would have a quarter of the pool and sunlounger area between about 4-6 of us. The pool has jets, exercise bikes, volleyball net, polo goals and plenty of space to swim. There are activities planned throughout the day which are good if you have kids, but they don't pressure you to join in which you get elsewhere. You can also use the gym and table tennis tables, tennis courts and beach olleyball. Surprisingly there is no traffic noise, however you can hear planes fly over as it is so close to the airport. I would very higly recommend having some treatments in the spa. These are not included but are extremely reasonable prices and the treatments are amazing. They make you feel very comfortable and it is never busy so great availability. There is a free shuttle bus to go to the sister hotel where the beach is.
There are 3 restaurants to choose from but only 1 out of the 3 is all-inclusive. There is also a bar and a bbq bar in the centre of the pool. There was a good variety of food in the main restaurant, everything is very clean, hygienicand made with fresh ingredients, although you have to guess what the desserts are! The staff in the restaurant were polite and attentive. The drinks that are included are local wine, beer and a few spirits and soft drinks. If you want anything else you have to pay for it. At the bbq bar you can also get lunch, however for the all-inclusive you have a choice of about 5 things and the menu never changes. Some of the staff here were quite moody and not helpful. There were 2 guys in the bbq bar that we hoped to get everyday as they did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, one is the manager and the other is Zidan.
They smoke all the bugs out of the grounds everyday as well and the grounds are very well kept.
The most annoying thing about the resort is that you have to wait around to sign for everything although you arent paying for it.
After you checkout, you then have to pay for any drinks or food although you have already paid for this in your "all-inclusive".
Personally I wouldnt bother with the transfers, you pay £30 there and £30 back for 2 of you, it costs £8 in a taxi and is much quicker. we got the transfer to the resort and it took us about an hour to get there when it was actually 10 minutes away.
There is no gift shop or any shop to purchase anything from in the resort.
There were also no tours available from the hotel.
The evening entertainment was appalling!!! 3 nights were films, another was a quiz between english and egyptian, 6 english vs 35 egyptians, and they are very competitive. we were forced into taking part. 2 other nights were basically people side stepping in different costumes. they also try to force you into going on stage, again, great when you have kids but not great when you have just eaten and dont want to look as stupid as they do! I advise taking a laptop and some music or dvds to keep yourself entertained in the evenings.
My stay at this resort was an overall lovely experience.
There are always rumours that the men are creepy and perve on the women. I felt totally comfortable with the men in the resort.
However, when you arrive at the airport BEWARE of the men, they made feel sick. Make sure you don't leave your lady/kids alone for even a second. My boyfriend was getting his bag from the scanner part so his back was turned for about 5 seconds, in that time one of the security was brushing up against me telling me that i was too beautiful, I thought he was going to touch me so I quickly moved away. I felt so uncomfortable with all the men at the airport. Obviously this isnt the resorts fault but I just wanted to make you aware of what they are like at the airport.

“Good but not special”

Maritim Jolie Ville Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort

Stayed at the Maritim in Aug 08. Hotel grounds and rooms are very good. Food is generally good. Beer is OK, wine is dreadful. Staff are helpful as is the general manager who really put his self out to ensure issues are resolved. All inclusive is here, as I understand it, is typical for Egypt and only local alcoholic drinks. Only the beer was drinkable.
Confusion can happen because there are 3 Maritims near Nama bay and only this one is listed on trip advisor.
The best point is the Swimming pool. Big and spotlessly clean. The worst is the really bad entertainment. You will really struggle to get peace by the swimming pool and at night it is not much better.
We went with teenage children and it was not the best as there were very few European children to mix with and language restricted them mixing well with locals.
Summary, good but no intention to return.

Just returned from a 2week stay at the Maritim Royal Penninsula and i thought i would write an honest review to help others. The hotel itself is stunning with the main focus of the resort being the enormous gorgeous pool area. We could not fault the cleanliness or service in this hotel and the rooms are stunning.. but there still are a few things which need to be addressed before they can classify this hotel as being complete. The entertainment is non existent apart from some Egyptian dancing once a week which is awful. The animation team during the day wasn't great and the music they played got a bit repetitive.
We were only B&B but cannot fault the food on offer for breakfast, although don't expect to get the usual British breakfast there. The Italian was okay but service not great but can i just say the Thai restaurant (Siam) was the best I have ever had, we ate in there 5 times during our stay and i cannot recommend this enough to anyone, especially the service by Mohammed and staff!!

The location of the hotel isn't great as it is a bit far from the centre of namma bay and although the hotel has free buses the times aren't great - 6pm and 10pm in the evening to the centre. So majority of the time it is taxis. Don't pay more than 40 Egyptian pounds!

Please do not use the telephones in the rooms, we couldn't find any pay phones in the resort centre and used it for a few quick phone calls. We got shock of our lives when checking out. 22Egyptian pounds per minute!!

In all we were happy with the resort but i would recemmend it as somewhere to relax for a 'week'. The staff are aware of the lack of entertainment to which they say as its a new hotel they are working on this. However even at night the bars close pretty early and the entire atmosphere is so quiet and boring.

Being a young couple (25-30) we wouldn't particulary rate Naama bay as there wasn't much to do or many nice places to eat. The heat didn't help either but i wouldn't like to put off anyone from travelling here as we know people who love the place!!

My husband and I had a great week here as our honeymoon in May this year. The staff are great, the rooms are fantastic and very clean!
Unlike other hotels it would appear no-one got the dreaded stomach bug whilst staying at our hotel and the staff were so friendly! They arranged a seaside dinner for just the 2 of us and closed of a section of the seaside resturant in their sister hotel and we had about 5 staff and a chef catering JUST to our needs! Food was superb and very very cheap for what it was!
In the hotel there is a supreme little Thai resturant that we could have happily eaten at every night again with great staff.
I wasn't impressed with the over priced italian however :(
99/100 for the hotel, unfortunately onlo 75/100 for Egypt as a destination...

“Big Rooms, Huge Beds, Enormous Pool,”

Maritim Jolie Ville Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort

12 Aug 2008

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Peninsula for a week in June and had a brilliant time. The complex is huge and very spread out with the focal point being the immense pool. Our room was gargantuan, very clean and with an enormous bed, which the room service decorate with different imaginative designs of pillows, cushions and bedding every day. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite and the food was great, especially the Thai, who have an ex-Thai royal chef who's food is quite simply stunning. The other restaurants are an Italian and a buffet, both of which we thought were of a very high standard. If you want to get fat, the Egyptian pastries in the buffet are just the ticket. There is a private beach, which is very secluded, quiet and relaxing. and the snorkelling is very good, with a huge array of fish and coral. All in all it is the perfect location for relaxing, eating and having a good time.
