“great holiday”

Maritim Jolie Ville Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort

We stayed at this resort from the 5th Sept the 19th Sept.
The room was very large we had an executive, could not fault the room or the cleaning of the room. The lad that cleaned our room made different things every day from towels, like a crocodile, a snake and a swan he had these set out on the massive bed.
The resturant and it staff were very good. I dont know what people are expecting from the buffet but we could not fault it. Different every day and a good choice.
The lads who looked after the pool and the pool bar were very good they could not do enough for you.
We both had an upset tummy this lasted 24 hours we do not believe it was the food but the heat that caused this. A couple we met at the resort only ate outside and they both had it as well.
We flew with XL the company that went bust half way though our holiday. They also did not put our cases on the plane on the way out so we were without them until 11 pm on the night after we arrived. The resort gave us bathrobes and slippers and sent a bowl of fruit to the room.
Without the help of the you travel rep Seyed we would have had a lot more trouble getting back into the airport to get our cases. Seyed also bought at his own expense upset tummy pills for my Wife and an English newspaper. He also kept us informed of how and when we were going to get home when XL went bust. So thanks for all your help.
Even with XL going bust we still had a great holiday and are going back next year the staff and the resort were very good indeed.

We stayed in the maritim between the 11th sept 08 and the 18th sept 08 for our honeymoon.

We looked for ages to find a hotel that did not have more bad reveiws then good and this one does, with good reasson this is a really good hotel and must be one of the best hotels in sharm.

The hotel is buitiful with not a spot of dirt anywhere the staff are very friendly and the rooms are massive. Being our honeymoon we were given an upgrade for free to a suit with a free bowl of fruit. The bar is also good, open from 11 till midnight with al inc drinks of local beers, wines and spirits but no cocktails you will have to pay around £5 per cocktail. The pool is massive and the hole pool area was very quite at this time of year. There is a free gym which also has a good level of equipment. There are 3 places to eat on site but only one is included in the al inc package. Theres a thai and italian but you will have to pay at these and a buffie type for al inc. There is also 24hr room service and is not bad value for money if yuo get the munchies.

Now for the not so good stuff
The food in the al inc resteraunt is not very good and is the same thing everyday. There was a lot of illness at the resort and most people thought it was the food.
The beach is a short bus ride away and a man made shingle one, but the shorkiling is ace and makes up for it!
You will be charged for everything in your mini bar and it is very expensive.
The entertament at this hotel is sooooo poor! we had 2 dvd's and 2 dancers the hole week that we were there. We took a pack of cards and tryed to make the most of it.

Now for your youtravel reps that work in the hotel DO NOT BUY any trips from these, SYEAD is the one we had and his trip are very expensive and a bit dogey we went on 3 trips with him and two of them were ok but over priced. The horse ridding was unbelivable no helmits on health and saftey THE HORSE'S HATED EACH OTHER, people getting thrown off and the horse's fighting with each other at some hut in the middle of the desert. DO NOT GO! We were given a refund by card but it never went in to our account. so be warned do not use youtravel (SYEAD)
There are maritim tours in the hotel that are a lot cheaper and a lot better so ask for them.
IN ALL WE HAD A GRATE TIME AND WOULD GO AGAIN BUT NOT THE TOURS WITH YOUTRAVEL SYEAD!

“Excellent hotel and resort”

We stayed for 10 days at the hotel in early September 2008 and it was very quiet with only about 125 guests. There was no problem getting any sunbed or sitting wherever you wanted around the excellent and substantial pool area. The temperature was always in the late 30's but nearly everyday there was a nice cooling breeze.
The food is very good with plenty of choice although it is only in the main restaurant where you truly experience the "all inclusive" deal. Whilst there is a Thai and Italian restaurant on site you can only eat once at the Italian on the "all exclusive" deal and then only from a basic menu. Thereafter you will have to pay extra. The Thai restaurant, which is excellent, has to be paid for in full although you do get a $12 dollar room credit. Expect to pay about £50/couple. There is also a "British" pub within the complex but again this is outside of the all inclusive package. The pool bar/restaurant is very good but once again only consists of a basic menu (burger, chicken, pasta) although you can go a la carte at the restaurants but all at additional cost. Note that the room mini bar although offering exactly the same drinks available in the all inclusive package have to be paid for if consumed!
The “standard” executive rooms are excellent - very large complete with air conditioning and flat screen tv. They are kept very clean and have a huge bathroom some with separate showers and baths. The private beach is about 5 minutes courtesy coach ride away but again this is excellent with plenty of sunbeds/shade, bar/restaurant and good toilets. Snorkelling just off the beach is great and you can hire the mask, snorkel and flippers for about £8/day at the beach. Towels are also provided at the beach.
Although if you do go all inclusive and have the mandatory wrist strap you still have to sign for everything. This is because some of the guests are only on bed and breakfast basis. There is no problem with eating or drinking anything at the hotel as all the drinks come from bottles/cans (e.g. Pepsi, 7up etc). All the fruit and vegetables are washed in their own purified water system and apparently they have obtained the 2nd highest water purification marks in Sharm.
The hotel also has a well equipped gym and very good but pricey spa facilities.
The hotel is very quiet in the evenings although they do try and put on a nightly show. Naama Bay about 12 minutes taxi ride away does make a change to go to (expect to pay no more than 40 Egyptian pounds for the taxi) although it is very hot and busy and you will get constantly badgered from everyone. Naam has a Hard Rock Café and TGI’s both very good and an extensive shopping area.
If you do venture out to Cairo to see the Pyramids try sharm-club. They cost from only about £125/person which included the transfers, flights , transport, guides and entry fees. They were extremely good and a lot cheaper than the on site holiday reps charge. Also make sure you ask the hotel for a breakfast box as you will leave very early in the morning which they will provide free of charge.
Definitely go to this hotel if you want a quiet, relaxing and luxurious holiday.

After reading all the reviews for the hotels surrounding, this sounded like the best resort to stay at in Sharm.
On arrival to the resort, the staff were helpful and friendly, drinks on arrival and took our luggage to our room. The resort is really spacious, everything is on one level and was an excellent layout.
The standard room which we stayed in was big and very clean, bathroom was also big, with a bath made for 2. The air conditioning in the room is excellent. The rooms are kept very clean, fresh towels and bed made everyday. No complaints at all.
The pool is massive and kept very clean, there is loads of space surrounding the pool. There are loads of sunloungers surrounding the pool and there was never a time when the pool or surroundings were crowded. Most of the time we would have a quarter of the pool and sunlounger area between about 4-6 of us. The pool has jets, exercise bikes, volleyball net, polo goals and plenty of space to swim. There are activities planned throughout the day which are good if you have kids, but they don't pressure you to join in which you get elsewhere. You can also use the gym and table tennis tables, tennis courts and beach olleyball. Surprisingly there is no traffic noise, however you can hear planes fly over as it is so close to the airport. I would very higly recommend having some treatments in the spa. These are not included but are extremely reasonable prices and the treatments are amazing. They make you feel very comfortable and it is never busy so great availability. There is a free shuttle bus to go to the sister hotel where the beach is.
There are 3 restaurants to choose from but only 1 out of the 3 is all-inclusive. There is also a bar and a bbq bar in the centre of the pool. There was a good variety of food in the main restaurant, everything is very clean, hygienicand made with fresh ingredients, although you have to guess what the desserts are! The staff in the restaurant were polite and attentive. The drinks that are included are local wine, beer and a few spirits and soft drinks. If you want anything else you have to pay for it. At the bbq bar you can also get lunch, however for the all-inclusive you have a choice of about 5 things and the menu never changes. Some of the staff here were quite moody and not helpful. There were 2 guys in the bbq bar that we hoped to get everyday as they did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, one is the manager and the other is Zidan.
They smoke all the bugs out of the grounds everyday as well and the grounds are very well kept.
The most annoying thing about the resort is that you have to wait around to sign for everything although you arent paying for it.
After you checkout, you then have to pay for any drinks or food although you have already paid for this in your "all-inclusive".
Personally I wouldnt bother with the transfers, you pay £30 there and £30 back for 2 of you, it costs £8 in a taxi and is much quicker. we got the transfer to the resort and it took us about an hour to get there when it was actually 10 minutes away.
There is no gift shop or any shop to purchase anything from in the resort.
There were also no tours available from the hotel.
The evening entertainment was appalling!!! 3 nights were films, another was a quiz between english and egyptian, 6 english vs 35 egyptians, and they are very competitive. we were forced into taking part. 2 other nights were basically people side stepping in different costumes. they also try to force you into going on stage, again, great when you have kids but not great when you have just eaten and dont want to look as stupid as they do! I advise taking a laptop and some music or dvds to keep yourself entertained in the evenings.
My stay at this resort was an overall lovely experience.
There are always rumours that the men are creepy and perve on the women. I felt totally comfortable with the men in the resort.
However, when you arrive at the airport BEWARE of the men, they made feel sick. Make sure you don't leave your lady/kids alone for even a second. My boyfriend was getting his bag from the scanner part so his back was turned for about 5 seconds, in that time one of the security was brushing up against me telling me that i was too beautiful, I thought he was going to touch me so I quickly moved away. I felt so uncomfortable with all the men at the airport. Obviously this isnt the resorts fault but I just wanted to make you aware of what they are like at the airport.

“Good but not special”

Maritim Jolie Ville Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort

Stayed at the Maritim in Aug 08. Hotel grounds and rooms are very good. Food is generally good. Beer is OK, wine is dreadful. Staff are helpful as is the general manager who really put his self out to ensure issues are resolved. All inclusive is here, as I understand it, is typical for Egypt and only local alcoholic drinks. Only the beer was drinkable.
Confusion can happen because there are 3 Maritims near Nama bay and only this one is listed on trip advisor.
The best point is the Swimming pool. Big and spotlessly clean. The worst is the really bad entertainment. You will really struggle to get peace by the swimming pool and at night it is not much better.
We went with teenage children and it was not the best as there were very few European children to mix with and language restricted them mixing well with locals.
Summary, good but no intention to return.
