I have just arrived back this morning from el wekala and after reading some of the reviews felt i should write as i feel people really give the hotel a raw deal. we spent a fantastic 14 nights and are hoping to book again for next year .
If you are looking for a family friendly hotel then this is the place for you. the staff are fantastic and love the kids, they knew both our children by name and spoke to them everytime they saw them and insisted we take them to say goodbye when we left.
okay the entertainment is not fantastic but the animation team are and they really do try to get the guests involved. Amany, Medo, Amero, Brown and Ramy are wonderful and work extremely hard for not alot of money and deserve more credit than some give them. there are some shows to watch like the street festival which you dont have to pay for although we did the first week and found the food fine but the 2nd week we chose to watch it from the flying carpet restaurant where we had a lovely meal that was very reasonable at just under 400 egyptian pound for 3 courses which is about 40 quid!
As for the restaurant we never had a problem with the food or the cleanliness and we always found something for the kids, they do have some wonderful soups, pastries and breads and the kids loved the pancakes and i loved the fact that there is a chef that will cook fried eggs or omelettes as you wish this said there is no bacon or proper sausage available.
I must admit that some of the belgians and russians can be rude mainly due to the language barrier but we never found any problems with any of the staff and i must say thankyou to our house keeper for his wonderful crocodile and swans made from towels.
I can honestly say that we had a fantastic time and will definately go back not only for the hotel and the wonderful staff but also for the wonderful beach,
In summary If you want a commercialised holiday go to sharm but if you want a friendly, relaxing holiday go to Taba and El Wekala- Do not believe all the reviews we met people that have been 6, 7 times who think of it as a 2nd home.
