To start this review I would like to say a big hello to the friends I met via TA, Dave is was nice to meet you thanks for the advice and the cold beers on the first night. And to Donna and family hope you got back home OK.
Check in was very quick, we arrived 3 hours late and were the first to be seen.
The room:
Was very very good, we got a free upgrade by FC to a senior suite, two rooms, with a double for us and two singles for the kids, we had a TV in our room with various channels including 3/4 for us English, it was good to relax for a hour or two before we went out for dinner, the room was cleaned every day, although once they did not leave any toilet paper one day and I had to go up the market and get some.
The pool:
The pool was a good size and the kids loved it, was a little cold and very good to get into from the heat. We had no trouble getting a bed (we tipped the pool guy a couple of pound on the first day) every day we had the same spot, unless we told him that we were going to the beach, then he would keep a spot clear near the back upon our return.
The Bar:
Very hot, with no A/C, staff was very good, local beer very gassy, if you wanted a short, no problems but came only with full fat mixers. I have read on others reviews that people complained of the wait, the bar staff were very quick and people only has a very small wait imo.
The Beach:
Short journey from the hotel on the bus, took you down to the beach, we did not eat at the beach but we did have a drink a couple of times, the wife and I had a beer, which we had to pay for and the then she asked for a two cans of diet coke, now on their website it states that soft drinks are part of the AI, this is not the case, we had to pay for canned drinks, this was the same throughout the hotel which in my opinion is wrong, the post mix was free(full fat). The beach itself was OK, just take beach shoes for when you get into the sea, The sea life was fantastic its was so so good, but please take note that we never swam in the red sea and not around any coral, for us it was great, my son and I spent hours in there looking at the parrot fish and many other types.
The Food:
School dinners is a little cruel but sometimes it felt like that, lots of choice and not to repetitive, soups very good, the staff in there were great, we tipped Andy on the first day and he could not do enough for us, we had the same table every day, not too much queuing, but we like to take our time over a meal and not rush so not a problem for us.
The staff:
All in all very good, yes we had to tip them, but I chose to do this because of the lack of income that they get, I took £30.00 in pound coins and they got this and maybe a little more over the week. Look out for Andy in the restaurant along with Salad as we called him, very good, Mo in the bar worked very hard a small tip and he will feel you glass up without even asking, The pool guy very good and ardmed(sp) at the pool bar a very very nice guy. All you need to do is say please and thank you and this goes a long long way.
The resort:
Taba heights is very quiet, I knew this before we left so I can’t complain about this, if anyone is concerned about security don’t be there are guards every where, for me a little too quiet.
Tipping:
These guys in the hotel work very hard for very little money so a tip goes a long way and can help with getting things a little bit quicker.
