There's not much that I can say about this place that hasn't already been said on here. Arrived in Varanasi from Goa on our first trip to India, but compared to Goa, arriving in Varanasi was far more overwhelming. We had organised for an airport pick up, to avoid any hassles in getting a taxi, and were met by a driver with my name on a piece of paper right out the front - simple - and a good start.
The surroundings on the drive from the airport were insane, and I started to get a little worried about what this guest house might be like when we arrived, but was very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The family that run the guest house are all absolutely lovely, and as soon as we were shown to our room for the next 3 nights, I felt so much more comfortable with being there. We had a super deluxe room on the 3rd floor. The bed was king sized, had a mattress far more comfy than I expected (compared to our one in Goa), a huge clean bathroom with hot water, an lcd tv with cable channels, and the free wifi from the terrace cafe reached our room too. The guest house is slightly tucked away in a quieter area, walking distance to Assi Ghat and a short tuk tuk ride from the city - and a little less full on than the bedlam you see driving to the guesthouse which we preferred. We walked around the area, and although a little daunting at first, after being given a detailed map and explanation of where everything is, what to see, and where to go - we had a ball. We organised a day trip to Sarnath, and sunset boat ride on the Ganges - all through the reception, good prices, and always felt safe knowing they were booked through the guest house. The vegetarian restaurant on the terrace was where we ate every meal. It was cheap, home cooked, fresh, and amazing. (I recommend the egg fried rice, veg biryani, and the vegetable pokara), and the children who helped their parents with serving the guests, were so polite. Definitely recommend this place to anyone going to Varanasi, and if we ever visit again, this is where we will be staying!
