We stayed in the Conrad two weeks and we enjoyed every minute.
Check-in process with cold towels and a drink was correct and frindly, they upgraded us to a suite in the third floor overlooking beach and pool ( two toilets, two balconys, spacious bathroom, two flat screens, every day fresh fruit and ...................wow!)and very clean and well maintained.Housekeeping in the morning but also in the evening very efficient, thanks for it.
Breakfast in the SUKU more than expected, also because we like asian food.Breakfast buffet itself is more oriented to asian guests who are the majority in the Conrad, but for europeans there is the possibillity to order sausage, ham and cheese and so on free of charge. Not forgetting the very efficient(a table was always clean and ready) and FRINDLY staff in the SUKU.
Regarding activities we played many times tennis, courts ( two synthetic/astro turf-use clay court shoes!!) well maintained. You can rent rackets, shoes and balls,if you want.Staff helpful and frindly, knowing it's not easy to play in a pretty hot environment,so water, towels and at the end of the game cold towels(whiches saves the day). Before and after the game they had always time for us,so we learnt also a lot about Bali. Thanks for this to Agung Dharmayusa and his people. The highlight of our tennis experience in Conrad was a double/mix against Budi and Pande, unfortunally we lost(bill is still open!),but is easier to loose against nice guys.
We went often to the pool, absolutely clean, enough space, always fresh towels, water and (never seen) a cold water spray. We preferred the pool, the beach,as other reviewers just mentioned,is not an convincing argument to go to the Conrad (and everywhere in Nusa Dua). They have also some nice "cabanas",it's free,go early.
Staff also in the pool area very helpful and friendly, having always time to ask guests,if there is any need.I remember Agung (think about the five beers) and in particular Gede, with him I had not only a lot of fun,he was also a great source of informations(in case we will come back,I will check your knowledge about Keith!).By the way, thanks to the cooks, the pizza margerita, not cheap, but the best ever we had(including Italy!),very crispy.
We have been two times in the SUKU for dinner, food was excellent, service perfect.Wine pretty expensive, but I think this depends basicly on goverment taxes,so drink Bali Hay,it's a good beer.We have been also outside for Dinner. Pitanira,The Tree(Conrad area) and Mai-Mai(Bali Collection) were good choices. All restaurants are providing free transport, which in the dark is great.
As a HH member we had access to the Lounge,we used it only in the evening(for breakfast too far away and in the afternoon no time).Well equipped(also Internet access free of charge),spacious and a very good variety of drinks, not forgetting the snacks.Frindly stuff, unfortunally I have forgotten the names(one has spoken a pretty good german),
If you want to book a tour, the easiest way is to collect just in the airport some (of thousands) brochures/leaflets,price is always the same, call one of them and they will pick up you in the hotel lobby i.e. next day,no problem at all (in our case it was Green Field Sightseeing).
In the surroundings of the Conrad is practically nothing of interest. For shopping is nearby the Bali collection, free shuttle from/to the hotel(ask in the lobby for a time table),but you can also easily walk in 15-20 min. along the beach(leave the hotel on beachfront, then right),a nice beach walkaway in both directions..If you want more(Shops,Bars.....),you have to go to Kuta/Legian,thanks to the traffic it costs more than an hour and 100000 Rp ( Taxi blue/Bali Taxi-all with Taximeter),return less, less traffic! For Kuta only one guess,go to the Restaurant Poppies(it's still balinese).
Conclusion, the Conrad is a beautiful hotel with still(a little bit) space for improvment-Hotel advertisement on the screen has to be up to date(Satay),in the lobby: tonight..........i.e. Kecak performance clearly mentioned.
