The Hotel Majapahit Surabaya has been a 'known quantity' for decades and a recent stay confirms the continuing high class of this inn. With hospitality including being met by the GM, welcome relief from the heat with a cool, moist towelette, friendly smiles and professional service, the Majapahit is welcome oasis from the hustle-bustle of Surabaya and, as you walk to your room, it's not difficult at all to imagine yourself walking back in time. The manicured gardens, water features and flower-beds, the exquisite architecture and decor all are so reminiscent of the Dutch colonial period

But the Majapahit keeps pace with life and you'll find all the modern conveniences of the 21st century at your fingertips along with the outstanding service and hospitality of a 5-star boutique hotel committed to providing its customers with 'an experience', not just a place to doss down for the night.

Highly recommended and I'd be surprised if you were not totally happy with your stay at the Hotel Majapahit Surabaya.

Staying at Hotel Majapahit is like a step back in time to the colonial days of old. The 5* service starts from the moment you make your reservation. The staff can cater to all your needs before you arrive and book any tours, transfers, etc that you may require over email which is what we did for our Mt Bromo trip.

The hotel itself is steeped in history and nostaligia, with photos all around the lobby which you can enjoy during or after check in while you sip on your welcome drink.

The rooms are a step back in time with beautiful old colonial décor. They have all you need and more, a huge toiletries selection, mini bar, tv, safe, hair dryer, etc as you would expect for a 5* hotel and if you need something your room doesnt have the staff will surely find it with a smile.

The bed is extremely comfortable and the room size very large. We had a garden room which was more than large enough.

The hotel grounds are immaculately kept and have gorgeous areas to sit and reflect on times gone by with photos and old colonial pieces scattered throughout.

The pool, spa and fitness facilities are first class. We sadly didn't have a massage during our stay due to the spa being booked out - a sign of how wonderful the spa truly is.

The concierge can organise any trips you wish to do. They booked a driver for us on one day, who was so much fun and spoke great English. We also went on the midnight trip to Mount Bromo to see the sunrise and climb up to the crater rim of the volcano. Both Arif and Agus took us up the mountain and organised everything for us via email before we arrived. Our every need was catered for , pillows and blankets in the car for the 3 hour drive up the mountains, jeep to take us up to the sunrise viewpoint, drink while we waited for the sun to come up, sunrise photos at multiple places, horse ride up to the crater rim, and a delicious traditional breakfast at a family home before the 3 hour trip back to Surabaya. They made sure we had warm clothes for up the mountain and were great in helping advise and organise what we could do for our remaining time in Surabaya. They both were so helpful and always making sure our every need was catered for before we asked.

Dinner in the hotels restaurant Indigo was also amazing. The food itself was exceptional and the service too, especially Tya. The meals were huge and good value. We did eat out nearby and for value for money the Indigo really cannot be beat.

There is also a bakery which sells local snacks , bread and pastries all 25% off after 7pm and worth trying.

Overall our experience at Hotel Majapahit was amazing. We travel a lot throughout SE Asia each year and we cannot recommend the hotel enough. The staff will bend over backwards to cater to your every need and you will leave feeling like you really did take a trip back in time !

Room tip: We had a garden room and could not fault it you can upgrade to a suite but for us the garden room was huge enough !

Look no further in Surabaya for top quality accommodation. Historical, traditional and charming. Wonderfully maintained property in and out. Executive suite - very special. While not how I would decorate my own home, you really appreciate the fine eye for detail in matching the rooms with the entire property.

Staff - top marks. From reception to tea time to spa - wonderful Indonesian hospitality and warmth. And when you take some time to acknowledge it - makes the experience that much better.

Tea, breakfast, room service - food quality was excellent. Spa service - wonderful.

Centrally located as well. Considering the big draw was the shopping center - makes for a very convenient trip down the street.

Last, but not least. Great value!!!

Will be back! And considering this is a non-affiliated hotel (starwood, Shangrila etc...) and competition would be fierce - majahpahit has set a standard others should follow.

Room tip: Executive suite with pool access recommended

We stayed for one night in this beautiful colonial style hotel. The executive suite was spacious and stylish, a little bit too dark for my taste. The inner gardens are well maintained. The pool is nice, the water was, however, not entirely clean. The staff is friendly. Be aware that during Ramadan they don't serve alcohol which I think they should point out before you book the hotel.

Truly excellent!
The best of the hotels that can be recommended for Surabaya. Comfortable rooms, gardens, places for relaxation near fountains, professionally done massage, spa. And specially need to be said about staff - kindness, attention, ready to support and< what is most important for foreigners, cordially attention, smile, friendliness.
Special thanks to Nadia and Malo.

Room Tip: All rooms are great! But some for a bit moore money can be greater!

Room tip: You can have even better rooms (it can be!) for a little more money
