I was at Holiday Inn recently and it was a great experience! Firstly, my friends and I were impressed when they first came down to the airport, carrying a sign 'Holiday Inn Resorts' to take you to the hotel via their complimentary shuttle van.

From there on, the staff was very friendly and everyone had a smile on their faces. The front desk staff was very helpful and they helped us book taxis( only S$2 per trip!!) to nearby attractions like the go kart place and sunset seafood restaurant. The seafood there was simply divine. It helps if you can speak Indonesian to the taxi drivers (We spoke Malay, with an Indonesian twang, to them) to find out more about the Island and the best locations to visit.

Our two-room hotel suite was excellent; spacious, clean and most importantly had several cable channels! (We came to Batam to simply laze around, and watching tv in our room was one of the main activities...)

The hotel pool was great too and well-maintained with several jacuzzis (which you will need to spot the 'on' button to operate them- unknown to many!) and a slide with running water which was popular with kids (and us, a bunch of 21-year olds, squealing happily as we utilised the slide) The indoor pool was located in a quite isolated place so not many people knew of its existence but it was fun searching for it.

The morning breakfast at the Terrace cafe was good too, for a 4-star rated resort. Our only gripes were that there was no complimentary tea in our hotel room and the prices of the room service menu and the spa were not inexpensive. However, that being said, the award-winning spa was indeed an excellent experience with great service.

I would definitely visit this resort again.

Stayed here for two nights on business with a few colleagues and found it to be better than I expected. My room was a very good size with very effective air-conditioning. We ate at the Tepanyaki restaurant on the first night - the food was fine and the fruit drinks were excellent, I had the best smoothie I had ever tasted. Just a couple of negative minor points. The breakfast was good although the milk provided for tea/coffee has gone off on the first morning. I was surprised to have our car checked for bombs under the car when entering the hotel driveway! I would not hesitate to stay again

Having lived in Singapore since February it's a nice change to head to Batam and spend some time in the markets and in the hotel pool. The Holiday Inn Batam is a nice family friendly hotel which is so close to Singapore, the service staff are polite, the drink and meal prices are very good, all round this is a great weekend or weekdat escape.

Just returned from a wonderful weekend at the Holiday Inn Batam - trying to relax with a energetic three year old is a challenge but from the moment we checked into our Family Suite we were pleasantly suprised. The rooms are ideal for young children with everything you could possibly need; puzzles, drawing easel and pens, great bedroom so cosy with stars on the ceiling that were a huge hit. The kitchen has a microwave and all child friendly cutlery, very handy to know for our next visit. The staff love children which helps when you are dining, the pools are great and lots of fun and the kids club has a full day of activites and well supervised. We were able to spend a few hours at the MUST DO spa and not worry about the little one. We found the rooms and resort very clean throughout and no insects in sight at all. We would highly reccommend a visit to Holiday Inn Batam, you do feel like you are in Indonesia and we will definately be returning.
