As I have a school-going child, I had no choice but to go during the school holidays in June this year. We booked 2 inter-connecting rooms for a 4D/3N stay. There were 3 adults and 3 children in my group.
The bus that brought us to the resort was in bad shape, very old, creaky and the air-con didn't seem to be working, we were like in a hot sauna. Check-in at the resort was ok and staff was friendly.
The rooms were surprisingly big. We had a king bed and there was plenty of space, there was a raised platform where 2 huge pillows and a small coffee-table was placed, that gave us plenty of space to put our luggage and the kids' sand-toys. We also had a veranda at the back of the room which overlooked the garden and I thought it was thoughtful of the resort to install metal bars for hanging wet clothes or swimsuits.
The room was clean but the bathfoom smelled funky, apparently the smell came from the shower curtain which looked mouldy and God knows had not been changed since the resort opened?? The bathtub had stains and scratches. The flush was very weak and we had an embarrassing moment when we had to call maintenance to sort out the flush. The safe in our room didn't work but since we had an inter-connecting room, we merely used the safe in the other room.
Apart from the bathroom, I liked it that the tv had plenty of movie channels, they had S'porean channels, HBO, and most importantly of all, Cartoon Network for the kids. I also noticed they had Japanese and Korean channels.
I would strongly urge you NOT to holiday at this resort (if you can) during the June and December school holidays. If you are a foreigner and reading this, check out Singapore's Ministry of Education's website to find out when exactly are the school holidays. The whole resort was over-run with noisy kids (including mine) and their parents. The room walls were so filmsy that we could hear everything and everybody that walked from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor, we had sleepless nights as the sounds amplified in the night. I think the resort should at least soundproof their floors and walls a little to block out noise. Children and adults were laughing, talking, shouting and screaming at their top of their voices whilst going back to their rooms and we had 3 sleepless nights listening to the noise pollution. Even if someone closed their room-door the sound echoed and filtered through the entire corridor.
I thought the food prices was expensive. They had a kids menu and the standard price was $10 (everything is in Singapore Dollars, you do not have to change to Indonesian currency). However I must admit that the portions were big, if you have a 5 or 6 year old, they can actually share a plate of whatever you order from the kids menu, come to think of it, even an adult can eat from the kids menu and be full. The main restaurant always had a buffet and I think since they want to push you to have the buffet, they had few choices on the a-la-carte menu. It was mostly fried noodles of different styles and maybe a steamed rice with some curry dish. They had a lot of Indian selection on the menu which didn't interest me as well as expensive western food.
We never had the buffet as the prices were simply exorbitent. I think lunch was going for about $26 and dinner was about $36 (or close to that figure).
Each time we ate at the main restaurant Kopi-O, it was like sitting in a sauna, there is simply no ventilation at all and within 5 minutes, you are perspiring like crazy. The wall mounted fans doesn't work at all, the resort should try to install some fan-blowers which blows out cool air, it was terrible eating there and we always wanted to get out fast. Your clothes and hair will also stink of food after you leave the restaurant.
Bk'fast was ok, they had the usual asian fare like fried noodles, nasi lemak, porridge, egg station, breads, cakes, fruits and juices, just like any other hotel bk'fast.
They have 2 pools in different parts of the hotel. A very large pool at the main hotel and the other pool with a slide near the activity centre which is more for kids.
The beach was nice too, the kids had a nice time there, white sand but water not too clear. They had jet-ski, beach volleyball, banana boat ride and wind-surfing.
Overall my 3 kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves as the pool was huge that even if it's crowded, you don't feel the crowd. My only gripe was the filmsy thin walls, exorbitent food prices and bad ventilation at the restaurant. We spent $600 only on food for 3 adults/2 kids (my 3rd kid is just a baby so he doesn't count) for a 4-day holiday here. Other than that it's a nice place to holiday in for relaxation, only just don't go during the school holidays if you can help it.
