There weren't any other other budget places to stay in Ein Gedi so we were really keen to book this place, but when we looked on hostelworld it appeared to be completely booked out. Luckily, our hostel in Jerusalem told us that the rooms always appeared full online even though they had vacancies. When we tried to call them, the phone kept ringing out, but we stuck with it and eventually got through and booked a room! It was worth it because the location was breathtaking, we had a large balcony / terrace overlooking the Dead Sea, and the room was lovely with air-con, tea and coffee, and cable TV. There weren't many places to eat around there so we paid for dinner at the hostel and, although it was a bit expensive, it was very nice with a great range of food to choose from. On the downside, the staff were pretty rude. When we arrived, they looked at us with resentment and hostility and they rigidly enforced the hostel's annoying rules (like the 3pm check-in). The hostel was full of school groups so maybe that's what makes them grumpy!
