We stayed at L'Hirondelle for 3 nights. Emelia is a very nice host, very friendly and helpful. She'll arrange decent priced day trips, 95 euros for a full day trip to a variety of islands.
The room itself was quite worn but fully functional. Alot of cracked tile and some mold on the bathroom ceiling. Lots of geckos running around and lots of birds outside. The little tiny ants in Seychelles that get into Everything were the most agressive here. They seemed to nest in our backpacks so when we went to leave they were ALL over them. No air conditioning either. I am not a fan of air conditioning usually, at our other hotels we kept it around 24C, but it was so humid and hot that it was almost impossible to sleep.
They offer breakfast at 10E per person, where they come into your room and cook it for you. We tried that the first morning but the lady that came up was so miserable and unhappy to be doing it that we opted to go to the store and buy our own food and cook it ourselves. We bought 10 eggs, a mango, bananas, turkey spam-like meat, 2 onions and 2 litres of juice for 10Euro. The little grocery stores give the best exchange rate that we found.
There's a friendly night security guy too.
Overall our stay was very good, the balcony was great for relaxing and the Cote D'or beach a few metres away was by far the best swimming beach we found and probably one of the best in the world. We took a water taxi to St Pierre and snorkelled around there which was fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay at L'Hirondelle but most likely will not stay there again due to lack of air conditioning. It was just too hard to sleep in humid 30C without one.
