While this place has potential, it is ruined by poor and unfriendly management throughout. From the moment we arrived, we felt more as intruders than guests. Odd for a hotel, ya think?
Room is as advertised but poorly done. The details are all wrong. Hard mattress and pillows, wool blankets, exposed architecture. Worst part is bathroom, where they suddenly change from treehouse decor to cave dwelling, as the shower is made to look like a stalagmite of sorts; but its so poorly done its an embarrassment. The concrete is raw, in color and texture (sharp!) and the waterfall 'shower' is so close to the cave 'wall' you are forced to lean against it to get wet-- a bad idea with cold water and sharp surfaces!
The food is the worst we had in all of Thailand, complete with moldy salt/pepper/etc. shakers and chicken so suspect (as in rank) I had to set it aside hungry as I was. Plus, at least a third of the menu was 'unavailable'. Meanwhile, the staff's english is very poor and this can be tricky. For instance, it is noted that 'drinks' are extra (which we assumed meant alcoholic drinks) and when we tried to clarify by asking if the fruit juices were extra, we were told they are included. Of course, later, when paying the bill, that's not the case and it's too frustrating to try and explain the situation (intentional on their part I suspect). It was interesting that bottled water was free, it is a drink after all...
The trip to the elephants is in the back of a pickup truck, uncomfortable even for a teenager. I mean really, you can't splurge for a car with a roof (it did rain on us) and proper seats?
Worst part, was after playing cards until around 11pm on the deck after dinner, we started walking back to our treehouse along the lighted path (about a 5-7 minute walk to the furthest treehouse) and no sooner than 45 seconds after we left the deck, they shut off the lights to the path! Mind you, it is DARK up there and we were basically stranded, which scared my fiancee badly. It took 15 minutes of stumbling in the dark, iphone in hand, to find our treehouse and when I went back (with a flashlight from our suitcase) to explain to the staff their mistake, I was met with unapologetic faces and words, as if it was our fault!
Our attitudes went from fairly disappointed to downright angry thereafter. Do not waste your time at this overpriced excuse for a hotel.

Dear Madam and Sir,
Report response as inappropriate
I’ m sorry to hear you had a bad experience at the Khao Tree House Resort.
We try our best to be the number 1 Tree House Resort in Khao Sok.
Understand it is hard to satisfy everybody when it comes to mattresses, some people like it hard others like it strong (especially Asians), but if you inform the reception we will give you a mattress softener to make it more comfortable for you.
We do have exposes architecture, because we are a nature Resort and most of our Guests really enjoy having the feeling to be in the middle of the Jungle, however we have Tree Houses with closed bathrooms if you wish.
At the Tree House Resort, we cook original Thai food and not Funky Thai food for foreigners, some people like it, some people don’t, but at least you get the real deal.
I want my guests to experience authenticity and not a fake product adapted to foreigners, I’m sorry if the salt was moldy, it is not always hard to keep it dry with a 80% humidity factor.
I don’t accept you comment saying that my staffs don’t speak good English, they all do speak basic English and sometimes more, also understand that English is not commonly spoken in Thailand, don’t expect everybody to speak perfect English if you come here, however they will really try their best to assist you.
As for your complaint about the car, you asked our driver to sit at the back of the pickup truck to enjoy the scenery, of course if it’s start to rain you can ask him to sit inside, but you didn’t.
Now when it comes to the path lights, we are an Eco Resort and we do respect the environment which means we turn of the lights after 11 Pm, flash lights are available for free on demand at the reception counter
Thank you for your comment, it will help us to make this place better, we also hope you will enjoy the rest of your holidays in our beautiful country.
P.S We now turn on the lights all night.
