We went to Thailand in May 2006 for two weeks. We stayed in some budget hotels, and wanted to stay at a lovely beach hotel for 5 days at the end of our hotel. This hotel was recommended to us.
We arrived there and the hotel looked nice. The hotel rooms were clean but average. It was extremely quiet at the hotel and not many people around.
The main reason for coming here was to relax around the pool and on the beach. However; the main pool was being refurbished so there were over ten workmen working on it constantly, so we had use of a smaller pool across the other side of the hotel (which is usually only used for particular residents of the hotel). This was a very small poor and not particularly impressive.
So, we decided to laze on the beach. This was so dissaspointing and was the most unclean beach I have ever seen. There was so much rubbish around, that there were ants everyway. There were stray dogs roaming around on the beach, so there was dog poo a bit further up the beach!!! It was disgusting.
The food was average, and there wasn't much variation. We ate there for the first 3 days and couldn't stomach it anymore. My partner fell ill on the last day with sickness and diahorroa. This spoilt the last few days of our holiday!
We would never return to this hotel. If you do find yourself in this neck of the woods, then go to the Regent Cha-am, which is further up from this hotel. The Regent was amazing and the food was excellent - we badly regret not having stayed there in the first place!
