We stayed and the Centara Grand Beach Resort and very much enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of Hua Hin Beach. We enjoyed wading, looking for seashells and small marine life. The resort has direct acces to this beach. If your idea of 'going to the beach' means laying by the ocean rather bthan actually going in the water, there are many beach chairs available about 50 yards away at the Hilton. Relaxing here was probaby the most relaxing part of our holiday.

Water pretty clean, deeper & with more waves than further down the coast. Nice sand, occasional horse deposit though they do try to pick it all up, didn't bother us. Not much to do though... rocks are interesting but covered in oyster shells so pretty sharp on the feet. Walked along & back before heading back to the hotel

No room on the beach for the tourist with all the venders, not able to find room for a towel on the beach. You have to rent a sun bed from the touts. As you walk onto the beach your way is blocked by tired looking horses who are being touted for beach rides.
In short if you want a clean beach with a bit of room go out of town, no space for the tourist at Hua Hin beach.

My Wife and I lived in Hua Hin for three months. We planned to stay permanently but decided we just didn't like the place.
A big reason we left was the beach. It is terrible! Crowded. Dirty. Very Expensive. Hard to access. Windy. There are so many really beautiful beaches in Thailand, don't come here if that is what you are looking for.
The town is very crowded. A Lot of traffic on the weekends. Has a very active "Entertainment Zone" But does have some very good restaurants.
There are some decent beaches within a close drive from Hua Hin. I am it was just as nice once but now it's crap.

Compared to some beaches in thailand hua hin beach is really clean. Locals are so friendly. You can spend the whole day here as there is food and drinks available on several parts of the beach. Lots of hawkers but it all adds to the experience. They have to make money somehow. Spent every day on the beach and loved it.
