What a disgusting resort - from managemanet to the grounds, rooms etc. Stayed here on 29.12.06 to 02.01.07 - checked in we were given a room that we did not book - it was shocking the second you walked in the smell of mould just knocked you out - the mini bar had a bottle of Johnny Walker black lable half empty. I pointed this out as soon as we entered room and further mentioned that this was not the suite I had booked and indeed paid for, staff member smiled made a phone call and we were asked to wait - she came back to advisoe no other room avail - we booked in Aug 06 - an ocean suite - second best room type in the resort 600 AUD ++ a night - asked to speak to the manager - not available - she said she would come back - by that time i could barely breath for the smell in the room - waited outside in soring heat for a hour - but no one came so we decided to go down to the lobby which is miles away asked to see the manager - however the manager took 3.30 hours to even speak to us - just shocking and in the end this Manager could not make any dececions - after we threatened to advise Quantas and take legal action as we paid for this room all of a sudden they found the room type we booked and paid for - this was 4 hours later of my holiday - and me crying in reception area - people looking etc and without any sort of compensation or anything else. All we wanted was what we paid for. Second night I had a massive fall on this pebble ramp walk way( very slipperey)! suffering a horrific back injury and still suffering with pain - the experience we had with checkin and the so called Manager we did'nt not even report it. The hotel is run down and very dated and for the money they are charging it is criminal. The Resteruants look like somenting in the 1970's and foof was a disgrace. We have worked it out now, it was the only place in Phuket that had a vacancy when we booked in Aug 06 for a 4 to 5 star property, now we understand why.

They have bus loads of Japanese who stay here and I think that it what they cater for they simply treat you as a second class person if you are not Japanese.

Sincerely, all in all this place is just the worst place and experience with such horrific managemant to treat you like this and try and steal my money by gving us a less superiour room than what we paidfor.

Spend your hard earned money else where - countless hotels in phuket far better and cheaper.

The worst resort in Phuket is the Diamond Cliff Resort in this catergory.

  • Liked — not a thing - run down property
  • Disliked — everything - just old out dated and way behind other properties in Phuket in a 4 to 5* property

We upgraded to a $450AUD seaview Diamond Suite room for 7 days. The rooms are 1980's and gloomy with dirty balcony, stained carpet and a palm tree blocked any sea view. We requested a room change. The Asian curtain went up - all smiles and no help. Tried a few times to change rooms. No joy. A friend who was in Phuket could not visit us in the room or by pool. Tried to book him for buffet dinner for Xmas and wanted $200 AUD.
Never will stay there again and will never book through an agent again. Just not worth the money.

What can I say the staff and hotel were fantastic, you were treated like royally. It is a short walk into the nightlife, but when the promanade is finised it should be very pleasant, you are quite safe to walk along the road at night. Actually the beach just down the hill from the hotel is far nicer than when you walk along into the centre. The 2 food places on the beach also serve great food for very little money. All in all I would recomend this hotel to anyone but it is a shame that they charge so much in the hotel resturants and bars as no one frequents them.

  • Liked — Staff, service and rooms
  • Disliked — expensive bar and resturants compared to resort

Rooms are really big and accommodated, The staff is friendly, but they keep distance to the customers. Something not very common in Asia. Restaurants too expensive if you compare it with the restaurants downtown.

We stayed for 8 nights and loved everything about the hotel.
Booked for a Diamond Suite with a free upgrade to an Ocean Suite - something I would recommend. The room was huge (70 square metres) with free laptop / internet (a few computer gremlins in the first 2 days quickly ironed out by attentive staff), solid timber floors, stacks of room, plenty of storage space, separate shower, 1 Kg of free fruit every day, pillow menu - all great.
The only negatives were the room's sundeck (in need of some TLC) and the shower recess (tiling not the best) but that was pretty minor.
The staff were all very friendly and polite and the room was cleaned at a similar time each day which helped. We didn't eat much in the hotel except for the breakfast which was comprehensive with enough daily change to keep you interested.
It's a quiet hotel perhaps because of its location a good 20 minute walk from madding crowd at the centre of Patong and perhaps because of the type of client base of young honemooners and middle aged couples (very few children).
I would stronly recommend this hotel for someone looking for a quiet place to stay after a busy / noisy Phuket day.
