Just came back from Phuket where I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. I would say this is a very nice hotel for budget or average traveller where the reception staff is very nice n friendly. I would praise the housekeeping for doing an excellent job. The room is clean and tidy. The pool is very nice and with a pool bar next to it. Very nice environment where it's about 10-15 minutes walk to the famous bangla road. So it's not too far from the happening place but far enough to have a quiet place to sleep. A buffet western breakfast is served but taste is not too bad. There is also a very nice massage house next to this hotel name "Season Temporary Spa" the massage is so good to be say and with reasonable price.

We were booked in to stay at the Patong Bayshore for 5 nights and had booked 6 months in advance.
When we checked in they said our room in the Bayshore wing wouldn't be ready until the next day and "upgraded" us to the family room. There were only 2 of us and we had asked for twin beds.
The family room turned out to be very sparsely furnished, with an office desk in the middle of one room, and with one bed (there was plenty of room for more!). The door latch chain was also broken. When we asked Reception the next day to move to the room we had booked they said the wing was full and we could stay where we were for the entire stay - which we didn't want. The Receptionist came up with a room number (just to temporarily keep us happy I think) and told us we could move there after lunch. By that stage we had decided to spend the day finding another hotel!!! We got back to the hotel and another Receptionist said (again) that we could stay in the room we were in. By that stage we told them we were very unhappy with the hotel and the service and wanted to check out. Thankfully they only charged us for the one night we stayed and we went to another much much nicer hotel and had a great holiday, but the Patong Bayshore definitely could have ruined our experience in Patong!
2 other things we didn't like - You have to leave your room keys at reception when you go out.
The security guard came to our room around 10pm (2 single girls in our mid 20's) and asked for money for cigarettes...
I would never stay there again and would never recommend it, there are so many great hotels in Patong!

If you are on a budget and are looking for a nice clean place to lay your head, look no further. The reviews on this hotel are very accurate, but to sum them up: This is a basic 3-star hotel, it's clean, and the people who run it are friendly. That being said, think twice if you are looking for a high quality romantic spot on the beach (our friends stayed at the Banthai, which is more appropriate for higher expectations). The PB is rustic and a 2 block walk from the beach. It's nice and quiet and if you splurge on a garden room ($50 extra total for 9 nights for us), then you get the feel you are away from the hustle and bustle of it all. The pool is a great lounge spot as well. The breakfast buffet is basic and is pretty much the same every day. We didn't eat there at any other time, but cheap restaurants and food vendors are literally steps from your doorway. And because it isn't on the sea-side main drag, restaurants and services (ie. massages) tend to be less expensive. Knowing what we do about the place, we would stay there again.

Ground floor rooms at rear on main wing very poor. Would suggest you request pool facing or upstairs room. Otherwise pay small extra charge like we did to have one of the Bayshore Wing bungalows which are lovely.
Great little pool area with bar, plus free pool/beach towels on request.
Breakfast basic but enough choice to start the day with, just ignore the moody chef cooking the eggs!
As mentioned the hotel is in a great location ten minutes from the beach and centre. Putting it far enough for peace but close enough to walk everywhere.
Walk out of hotel to right you'll find cheaper restaurants.
If you want a no frills central place to sleep then this is it.

After reading the reviews this placed seemed like one of the best available options and I was happy to find that most of the reviews had been accurate. We booked whatever the cheapest room was at the time, (about 60 US/night) we were upgraded for free due to over booking so we ended up with a large room with separate sitting area, large washroom, full size fridge etc. Pool area and grounds were beautifully maintained, breakfast was included in our price. It was standard, nothing to rave about, but did the trick. The beach was a short walk away (less than 10 min) We loved this hotel because it was close enough to all the attractions (beach, shopping restaurants etc), but was far enough away that we could spend a quiet, relaxing evening by the pool.
