“Loved the hotel”

Hotel Les Citronniers

28 Jun 2008

I checked all the reviews before we left and we definitely weren't disappointed.

The walk was only about 3 minutes to the beach down a very clean alley. The beach was fantastic. Further up the beach were the all-inclusive hotels where everyone was squashed together like sardines whereas we had loads of room on our beach. The sunbeds were only 2 dina per day and we learned after the first day that you could ask Rambo to get you whatever you wanted from the beach bar and he'd bring it back to your sunbed without you having to move.

The hotel was basic but clean and the maids came in every day and changed the towels every day. The staff were really friendly and helpful. If you want to know about anything ask at the reception. My husband asked Rambo about quads but when he went to the hotel reception he booked the quads at a much cheaper price than Rambo had given him.

The food at the hotel was great but there were some great restaurants around. If you turn right out of the hotel and take the first right road there are two great restaurants on the left hand side called Cascade and Bella Marina. Bella Marina was the best. The Italian restaurant also makes fantastic fresh pasta. In the restaurants you get given bread and tapas-like food which is all free and some places give you like an ice-cream sorbet which is also complimentary.

People do hassle you to go in their shops but we found if you just say "no thank you" and keep on walking and try not to give eye contact then they leave you alone.

Like anywhere we found that if you treat the Tunisian people with respect then they are really lovely people.

I liked the hotel breakfast but if you don't want croissants and bread every day you can get a cooked breakfast down the road for about 4 Euros.

So, all in all it was a great place and we'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Stayed for 2 weeks and loved it. The Hotel is very clean and the food is fantastic. The rooms have not long been refurbished. The staff are all very friendly and allways have a smile on there face. There isnt much of entertainment in the Hotel but if you go accross the road to the right ther are a couple of Hotels with entertainment everynight. If you need to ask me anything feel free to do so. the Hotel website is www.hotellescitronniers.com

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in Septemer 2007, and had a fantastic 2 weeks.
The apartment was clean and good value for the tiny price we paid. We stayed half board, which I wouldn't recommend because they only do croissants and toast - which I was sick of after 2 weeks! However, everything else about the hotel was great.
Room cleaned every day, lovely shower and spacious room with balcony. Bar was good for when we stayed in, as were the sandwiches and things they do at lunch. Dinners aren't great - but cheap f you don't fancy eating out. The pool was clean and the pool area was quiet at this time of year.
We went on a trip to the Sahara, which was great and I'd recommend it to anyone. Just be careful wht you eat/drink on the trip because I was a bit ill!
Spend most of our time on the beach which is a 5 minute walk from the apartment, and an amazing beach it was. Got taxis to Hammamet town for dinner, where the restaurants are amazing for local food and cheap too. There are also places that do english food for those people that want that!
Some people stay in the huge resorts here, but I'd prefer Les Citronniers any day.

“Nice hotel”

Hotel Les Citronniers

21 Jun 2008

We stayed at this hotel in June and for a two star hotel it is way above a two star rating in the uk. Friendly staff and would recommend the food, varied menu, fresh and nicely presented. only thing we thought was a minus was no mini fridge, but you can get ice and cold drinks from the bar to take to the room. Soft drinks and local beer are reasonably priced but beware the price of branded spirits (around £4.50 for a gin vodka etc.), but this is the standard price at any of the hotels. Would also recommend the hotels beach bar. Unfortunately we wont be going back because the constant hassle from locals trying to sell goods just wore us down and can sometimes be a bit intimidating.

just returned from our holiday. felt i had to write a review to share my experience! im not easily pleased, but can honestly say it was a fantastic holiday. i wouldnt recommend it for kids as they would probably get bored.

hotel, basic but clean and tidy with friendly staff. food good for the price, im a fussy eater, but was able to eat a different meal every night.

shopping was ok, apart from being pestered. enjoyed the trip to the desert as it was a good way to see the sights.

two tips - take english money to change in hotel. its the better rate. they accept euros and us dollars but the rate is not as good.

if you like to drink spirits take a bottle with you as you cant get it there. its very expensive in the bars. whisky is arround £5 a shot. its heavily taxed. i took a couple of bottles of bells and sold it too the bar manager for a nice profit!!!!
