We have stayed at the Le Saphir 3 times, and its been fabulous everytime!
When we stayed there it was the Le Saphir in one half and the Hammamet Village in the other.
We stayed in the Le Saphir Hotel, but could use all facilities of both hotels.
Very nice, clean rooms. Basic, but have everything that you need.
Two great big pools, one in the Le Saphir grounds and the other in Hammamet Village grounds.
These hotels have now amalgimated to one resort called the Thasalla Hammamet Village.
Entertainment was excellent. Animation team worked all day every day to please everyone - from old to young.
Activities going on all throughout the day, and in the night there was always a great show going on, bingo and music - and also a nightclub there which was great and open until 2am.
Food was excellent.
Fresh roast meat everynight - beef was gorgeous! Loads of variety for breakfast, dinner and evening meal and was always hot, fresh and delicious!
They also had a snack pool bar and a snack cafe serving different drinks, pizzas, sandwiches and salads - which were gorgeous!
Hotel was about 10 mins walk from a gorgeous beach - not much around the hotel, but that may have changed as i stayed there 3 years ago.
Tunisia is a gorgeous place, with really friendly people, and i would recommend it to anyone, along with this hotel.
Really good break away.
To all you who moan about this hotel - at the end of the day, its the same with everything, you get what you pay for, and in my opinion, this hotel was great and we couldn't of asked for anything more!

DO NOT STAY HERE. When you first arrive at this complex it seems ok, on the surface it is. scratch the surface and you have a hotel that was making most of its guest ill. If you go all inclusive they water the drinks down with tap water, this makes you ill, they were even watering down the coke. The food I thought looked great, but, when you look again it was poor quality re heated and please, please if you go there check your BBQ meal in the light, the chicken & turkey can be very pink and under cooked. We were told this hotel was closing down for a refurb, I dont know if this is true but there was certainly an air of we dont care we wont be here for much longer. Bewhere of changing your money at reception they dont give you a receipt and I was short changed on several occassions. This is the fith time I have been to Tunisia and I think it is a great destination for a good value holiday, but please do not stay here, if you do you will never want to go to Tunisia again, about 9 out of 10 people were ill, we moved hotel as we were unable to eat or drink there and the day we moved 3 other couples did to. Thomas Cook was a let down and not very helpfull. I hope things have got better as there were so many complaints when we were there, but I wouldnt recommend you risk it. The staff on the whole were ok but they were frustrated because they were not given the tools to work with like not enough glasses. The entertainment was very poor, it was Ramadam but the next hotel we went to the entertainment was great.

Thalassa village/le saphir - supposed to be the best hotel - well some years ago it was but - Staff were wonderful - good job, food was bland and the same nearly every day, bbqs every day and night beware of re-heated food. if you go all inclusive beware, the only drinks are local lager, which isnt bad, local vodka, gin both watered down and snapps, so if you want to get tipsy start at 10 when the bar opens and drink till it closes - you may get lucky. the pools are very well maintained and cleaned every morning. sunbeds are not a problem. most people the week we were there went down with food poisoining/ bad stomachs, the flys get to the food before you do!!. the room we had was in the village part and was very clean and the maids were very nice, we had flowers in our room everyday, and beds and towels are changed each day.
the two chaps who fetch the cases/run at you to take your cases can be a bit of a pain. the entertainment is below average!!!! hardly any during the day, and the night entertainment is run by the hotel, and doesnt start till 10.30 and only lasts one hour! the entertainment/disco room is very small for the size of the complex, and if you are all inclusive you have to go to the pool bar for your drinks and take them back to the disco room.

its a good place to relax and if you are half board or bed and breakfast, the places nearby are cheap and good.

the staff at the bars are really nice, if you are polite to them - it doesnt hurt to say please and thankyou and they love it!!

we were let down by thomas cook re- not very helpful at all.

taxis are cheap to take you anywhere, just ask price before you get in.

and you have to go on a camel ride its brilliant, and the pirate ship is a great morning out to see dolphins!!

apart from the food in the hotel, its great if you want a nice relaxing place to stay. - just beware of the food!!!!!

I stayed in this hotel in August 2005. After I had booked this hotel I decided to read some reviews about the hotel. I was a bit sceptical about the reveiws, as earlier in June 2005 I travelled to Tenerefe were the hotel had excellent reveiws but wasn't as good as we expected.

When we arrived at the hotel, it was late at night and staff were only too happy to help us with out bags (becareful though, they are after a tip and only give a little tip as if you give a large tip, they are always expectin, if you give no tip, don't expect five-star help). Our first impressions of the hotel was that it was very clean and staff were very friendly. We were always able to get sunbeds around both pools, the pools were clean and guarded during the day. There is waiter service around the pool, so no need to get up and go to the bar.

The Animation team make sure there are activities for everyone to join in with, from water aerobics to volley ball on the beach. They were all very friendly and we ended up going to bars with a few of them on the days which they were off (obv this isnt compulsary). The walk to the beach was only about 5 minutes, and is well worth it. The sea is clear compared to other resorts in Tunisia which I have stayed in, and the sand was soft wiv no pebbles.

They were all the positive things about the holiday. Entertainment at the night time isn't as good as other hotels which I have stayed in and the stage is situated around the back of Le Saphir hotel. But, just outside the hotel there are many restaurants and bars, some which allow children at any time. Just outside Le Saphir, to the left, there is a lovely restaurant which is cheap and we ended up best friends with the manager of the restaurant.

About 5-10 minute walk to the hotel, there are many nightclubs and bars. My personal favourites were Las Palmas (bar), Latino (open-air nightclub and bar) and Manhattan (nightclub). But there were also British Bars and Irish Bars which were excellent.

Overall, I really enjoyed my holiday to this hotel and would return. Though a couple of people at the hotel complained of stomach problems, none of our group were affected. We also took trips out on the camel and pirate ship WELL WORTH IT!

If you are planning to go to this hotel I'd say go, and make up you're own mind. It's well worth it.
