We stayed at the Maritim Alhambra for 2 weeks, end of July 2007 to 13th August. Overall it was a nice holiday, and the beach is fantastic. Better than some of the other hotels' sections. The hotel's tuk tuk takes you to and from the beach, it isn't that far and you can walk it if you have to. The hotel itself is a little smaller than some others, and does not look as grand as some of the other 5 star in the resort. However, the rooms are well appointed, very clean, air conditioning good. If you book sea view don't expect a large view of the sea - it is very much in the distance as there is a large desert area before you can see it. The swimming pool is nice with wooden sun loungers, although there are not a great amount of loungers - the beach has a lot more.

I had read reviews about the staff being rude - indeed they are on the abrupt side and do not seem to be helpful. Make sure if going to reception you cover up swimwear as they are a little picky about this.

On the weekends they fill up with tunisian or algerian families, so there can be an influx and it can get a little busy. The turnover of guests is quite high, we had never really seen such a change before. Not all stay for the usual 7/10/14 days.

The food was of good quality but there is not a vast range. Maybe due to it being s small-ish hotel.

Overall, a nice hotel-not quite 5 star in every department - in a nice resort of yasmine hammamet.

“a superb break”

We stayed at this hotel for a week in June 07 having been moved by the agents due to a problem with our original hotel. In the event, it proved to be of a great benefit as this hotel was five star luxury by the usual standards. There was a cosmopolitan group of guests from every conceivable nationality and it made a pleasant change not to be surrounded by English louts ; which now appears to be the norm in most resorts. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the food was excellent with a wide choice each evening and several places to eat. The evening was very laid back so if you want an exciting night life this is not for you. However, there is relaxing piano music in the bar each evening so you sit and quietly reflect on the day. Drinks are not cheap but there is the usual choice on offer. Pool area is very clean as was the private beach area; both are well supervised. Well worth a visit...

Have just returned from a week at this hotel which I booked only a couple of weeks beforehand. There were a few mixed reviews so I was a little nervous but thankfully any negative comments quickly proved to be unfounded; we've had a great break. The hotel is small enough to be friendly and yet big enough to have a wide range of services. The lobby is impressive and an indication of good things to come. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. It's not a 5* hotel by international standards - I think 4* would be more appropriate but from what we saw of the resort it stands head and shoulders above most others. Rooms with pool view are worth the supplement. Food through half-board basis is served in a stylish buffet-style restaurant but you can also dine a la carte and get a 25% discount, something not promoted. The wine list isn't great and a little overpriced as are most alcoholic drinks but that's pretty typical. The staff were excellent from informative reception team, helpful porters, friendly pool and beach attendants and good-humoured and very attentive waiting staff. Salaries aren't huge so tips are very much appreciated and I mean this genuinely. The spa is impressive and a massage session is definitely recommended. I really recommend this hotel!

This hotel was ok, but definately not a 5*. The room was large enough and was clean. However, it had a connecting door - are we the only people in the world that hate connecting doors? The pool was beautiful and it was a short walk to the beach (or there was a tuk tuk provided by the hotel). The beach was lovely, clean and each part of the beach is clearly 'owned' by a different hotel, so you feel a bit like cattle in your own pen. You are given a pool card and a beach card on arrival and when shown these entitle you to a towel and a sun bed. We were half board and the food was ok for a buffet. We stayed for a week and were glad that it was not a fortnight. There is absoluntely nothing to do at night in Hammament Yasmine. A short walk takes you to the medina, but to be honest there was nothing worth buying and it is a tourist trap of magnificent proportions. Our main gripe with the hotel were the reception staff. They were nothing short of rude, sneering and condascending. These are the people who are supposed to make you feel welcome! Everything was difficult for them. I asked to see the library - what a joke that was! Someone had to go and get the key and when it was shown to me, there were 6 paperbacks, of which they were very proud. the girl hung around with me, as I was clearly not to be trusted with these precious books. I talked to some other english speaking guests and we swapped books amongst ourselves. Not only were the reception staff rude, all of their jackets/blazers could have done with a wash! However, the restaurant staff and the staff at the beach could not have been more helpful.

we have just returned from the hotel allhambra thalasspa in yasmine hammamet, tunisia. the hotel is superb, decorated in the style of the allhambra palace in granada(which we have also just visited) it is very clean and the rooms are charmingley arranged around courtyards, the pool is superb with a pool bar which is staffed by extremeley friendly bar staff. the beach is a five minute stroll from the hotel garden or you can ride there in the complimentary tuk tuk all day at any time. the beach has a restaurant and bar, also with very friendly and helpful staff. there are complimentary towels at both the beach and the pool, the beach also has a security chap who will make sure that only hotel residents can use the beach and he also prevents the fruit sellers from walking into the sunbed area thus ensuring that you do not get pestered. the welcome was extremely friendly even though we arrived at 3.15am, within 5 minutes of being showed to our room we were bought a tray of assorted meats, cheeses, salads and fresh bread which was most welcome. the restaurant staff were also very friendly making sure that although it was buffet service we always had the same table each night. the food was excellent and very varied with huge choice. the rooms were well decorated with seprate loo from the bathroom and also very well airconditioned just like the rest of the hotel. The main bar is large and comfortable with excellent service from the friendly staff and there is also a piano player who is extremely good. the therapy centre is excellent with price lists for treatments available at the hotel reception. there is a small shop which sells newspapers, (they will get english ones in especially for you if you ask) souveniers, sandals etc. there is also an upmarket jewellry store too. All in all it was a lovely place to stay that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were superb.
