We went to The Royal Kenz from 6th-13th May 2012. My first trip to Tunisia, & my partners first trip abroad, & we really enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were lovely & clean, our only complaint was that we'd booked a double room & were given a room with 2 single beds pushed together, but we managed. All staff in the hotel were very friendly & nothing was too much trouble. Prior to going I had read some reviews on here about staff only catering to the needs of the more mature guests, but that was a load of nonsense. The hotel, gardens, & pool areas are beautiful & well kept, some stunning backdrops for photo oppurtunities! We had a wander down to the beach, about a 5 minute casual stroll...beautiful white sand & breath-taking views. Not at all littered...I'm guessing they'd had a clear up, again after some of the reviews on here. The beach bar wasn't open, perhaps too early in the season.
My only one BIG gripe was when we went out to Sousse. Due to the flourescent orange wrist bands they put on you if your 'all inclusive', these are like targets to the local traders. We ended up taking them off due to the amount of hassle we got, but the hotel seemed to understand when we explained, & it didn't affect our entitlements in the hotel.
Also when sat around the pool there are touts for day trips & activities that walk around. Again, as with all traders over there, you CAN get a bargain if your good at bartering! We went on the quad trip & I would highly recommend this :o)
Whilst there, I would highly recommend a trip to the french restaurant, which you can visit once included in your trip....absolutely lovely cuisine. But remember to top up the card at reception before you go with enough money to cover your drinks, as these are not included.
We chose the Royal Kenz because we wanted a week of total relaxation, with it being a kid free resort, & thats exactly what we got. There was a handful of kids there, as they've just introduced kids to the resort, but not enough to pose a problem, but I definately wouldn't recommend this as a family resort as there really isn't anything for them to do...not even a slide or shute into the pool. I have a 9 & 10 year old myself & wouldn't take them to The Royal Kenz. I believe that if something isn't broke, then why fix it! Its perfect for total adult relaxation, not a place for kids. I would definately return...if there was no kids :o)
