My first ever holiday abroad was to Alanya in 2010 and we stayed in the very same hotel. It's basic but incredibly clean and the cleaning staff will change your towels and bed linen every other day and tidy and mop in between.
The food is up and down and most of the time we'd eat out, however, there was a lot of choice and you could see the hotel had tried to cater for everyone.
The entertainment on Monday night was brilliant and was enjoyed by everyone and for the rest of my time there the bars and restaurants near by are more than adequate. I'd recommend Flamingo's as my boyfriend and I ended up having a brilliant friendship with the waiters/barman there. One of them is also the 'beach manager' and he will make your time at the beach incredibly enjoyable.
Alanya is small but there is a lot to do for everyone. Shops, trips and the beaches are beautiful. For money there is a range of banks and shops for exchanging currency and all of the Turkish people are incredibly helpful and genuine.
You do get mobbed whenever walking through the markets but that's just to be expected and they're not too pushy if you say "no thankyou".
Learning some of their language is useful and they're really appreciate it.
I WOULD NOT recommend "Big Bens" despite Thomas Cook saying how amazing it was. We had to send the food back, so be warned!
Kordons is an incredible place to eat and the waiters are phenomenal, it's expensive but you pay for quality. Best meal we had all holiday was there.
I'd recommend Alanya and this hotel to anyone. I wish i was going back this year!
