This hotel is very impressive. Light, spacious and decoration is of the highest standard. The amenities are fabulous - Slides, Funfair, Beach - all great.
Rooms are big and clean. Mini bar restocked with Beer, Drinks also snacks - only complaint was the 'Soap and Hairwash Dispenser'. In an attempt to travel light I left shampoo & conditioner at home big mistake...and a really, really hard bed!
We found the staff brilliant, however there is definitely an undercurrent and pecking order which at times is quite uncomfortable.
The Mini Club is a bit of a free for all. No details were taken for our child or ourselves when we left her to do 'Finger Painting'. After 15 minutes, I went back to check on her and she had gone alone to play in the park adjacent (unsupervised). She did say she asked the lady if she could go and was told she could. Immediately I thought this was worrying. Later, the kids were going to play a pool game. Unknown to staff, I went and observed. At no point did the two girls responsible for the children count them into or out of the pool. As a result, my 5 year old was left behind. I thought this was outrageous and complained to the Mini Club manager (who works very hard). She of course was very apologetic but it doesn't take away from the fact that our daughter twice in the care of staff was left alone...I did complain to 'Guest Services' and was fobbed off. In my opinion, there are 4 members of staff - two who are wonderful and two who seem very inexperienced. I had no confidence in leaving her at the club for any time. I have never been to a resort where a child's details are not required and also a note of where the parent's will be isn't required. This is a massive hotel with 650 rooms and countless staff. I really think sorting out the safety of the children should be the priority.
I would recommend the Spa - first place I've been where they offer a children's massage. Our little girl loved the 'Chocolate Massage'. We were able to have the massage together too which was great.
We did think that the sunbed policy was a waste of time - "Nothing to be placed on beds before 8.30a.m." as this was NEVER enforced. Consequently beds at the poolside were always occupied unless you got down early. The beach was brilliant as we were always able to get beds there at anytime of the day.
Meals were very good and I think the food was an excellent standard. There was always somewhere open for food. And there was a lot of choice. We gave up on the farce that was booking for the A la Carte restaurants. By 8.30am a queue had already formed around the terminals which opened at 9am. Several people were furious as sometimes if they were first in line some restaurants were already full - this seemed to be because if you were a party of 6 or more you could book earlier through guest relations. We never had problems getting a drink, if the service was slow or staff were busy, we just went and asked at the bar ourselves. The barman would always stop and serve us straight away. Cocktails a big plus too!
Mini Club drama aside we had a brilliant time. Just take your own products!
