Travelled 8-22 June 2012.
Arrived at about 3am, we checked in quickly and shown a 3d model of the hotel and where everything was. Got a room safe at the same time and the bell boy took our bags, by the time we got to the room the bags arrived a couple of minutes later.
Reception is very nice and the staff did a wonderful job, there's a bar in there with shops nearby on the way to the restaurant.
Our room was in block 2. This was a newly refurbished room which turned out to be a family room just for the 2 of us, a queen size bed with sofa beds in the other room. Very modern and bathroom was good. Very clean and no problems, the neighbours above could be heard though when getting ready but we never heard any noise throughout the night as there is a separating door between the bedroom and the apartment door. The room had a fridge which just had water in, a flat screen tv to watch the news or music channel's on and the air-con, which we didn't really have any problems with even though its apparently switched off after 2pm?
British guests get a blue wristband, don't mix yours up with the kids ones lol. This makes is easy to spot who is British and also makes it easy to pick out people you can talk to. This also makes it easy for staff to talk to you aswell.
Pool was very nice and very large. We got down to the pool around 8am each day (we're early risers anyway) and never had a problem getting beds. Towels are free from the towel hut, no cards needed. Swap them whenever you want to aswell. Fountains in the water come on after 2pm each day which makes a bit of fun. Most days there are pool games with the entertainment team too which can be fun to watch if you dont want to join in. I only played in one game but it was great fun. Music is played by the pool after 10am each day, not too loud but its good. At the side of the pool is the entertainment desk too, which lists each activity taking place throughout the day and what time and lists that evenings show. Lots of things for kids and adults to do, archery, break dancing lessons, multiple different exercise classes in and out of the pool, water polo, boules, volleyball, football etc etc the list goes on. This is all free and the staff are excellent.
There is a pool bar which serves drinks after 10am which include all the alcoholic and soft drinks. This also served burgers/chicken dippers, pizza etc every day after 11.30am. At the side of the pool are refrigerators which have bottled water in to help yourself too, a juice machine and coffee machines.
Lunch time food in the main restaurant was very good, we preferred food on a lunch time here than on an evening. Large selection of food and there was always a table outside which made it nice to sit and watch everyone else in the pool.
Main restaurant Managers name is Nuri. He will make himself known to you when you are there if you are British. If you are a man then watch out as he will pour freezing cold water over you at the side of the pool during the day, but this is mainly to promote the english vs staff football game held every Thursday. Its all in good fun and you get beer in return! Evenings in restaurant can be busy so we tended to go after 7:30pm when it was quieter as at was quite hectic if you go as soon as the doors open. Drinks are available from the bar including beer, vodka, gin, all soft drinks and the wine you help yourself too, red and white are both very nice. Food choice is quite good, if there's nothing you fancy inside there are cooking stations outside which serve freshly cooked foods but you do have to queue for these. On our 2nd to last night Nuri gave us a very nice table outside and a bottle of wine at our table, this was a very nice gesture and added a little something special to the holiday.
Evening entertainment is very good. We usually went over when the kids disco started at 8pm just so we could get a table to sit at. It gets very busy between 8pm and 8.30pm and you struggle to get a table after then. There is a bar there serving drinks too. The adult entertainment started between 9pm and 9:30pm and lasted an hour usually. The shows were brilliant with the entertainment team doing most of the dancing, as most of them are professional dancers. There is one show repeated every week (Sundays) which is a kids show (captain popcorn). Dont bother to watch this if you are adult, this is purely for kids. The the Turkish night is on every wednesday, this is an outside company brought in to do this. The entertainment team have their day off on Wednesday so there are no activities throughout the day or evening kids entertainment/kids club. Shows were of high quality with some very funny adult themed nights, and good audience participation to be had.
We dont have kids but if you do there was plenty for them to do. There are kids clubs put on by the hotel team, and others put on by travel companies. There are lots of activities for them all to do and they all seemed to be having a great time. The evening kids disco is a perfect time for them to dance away all their energy too. Some of the songs are quite catchy.
Drinks are good at this hotel, if you are concerned about drinks being watered down then dont be, they are very strong. Beer is good, its a local lager. Vodka is very strong, we didnt try the gin, Whisky is nice. The white and red wines are very nice but very strong, we got quite 'merry' most nights on this stuff. Drinks are free until 1am, which by that time we've usually had enough anyway but you can put more drinks on your room bill if you wanted.
After the evening entertainment the pool bar is great to hang out at until midnight, Then the midnight snack bar opens in the main restaurant if you are hungry. After 11:30pm the beach bar is open, which plays club music. This was a really great place to go and dance and some of the staff went down there too and danced with everyone.
My partner had a turkish bath and massage, she said this was very good and well worth the money (150TL). You can do this in the hotels own spa, this didnt work out anymore expensive than the one Thomsons was selling outside the hotel. there is a shop on site which sells everything you need if you run out of toiletries and also sells lilos and stuff for the kids around the pool. you can also get tatoos done and holiday henna tatoos etc, This is all above board legit clean stuff.
We went on a day out to Side, this is only 10 minutes away from the hotel. Get the bus outside the hotel, theres only 1 bus and it comes every 10 minutes so you cant go wrong. Its 4.50 lira for 2 people each way. The bus stops in Side at the bus park where everyone gets out, from there walk down the hill 2 minutes and there is a map of Side at the first of the ancient ruins.
Go to Side during the day if you want to have a good look around the ruins and take good pictures as only the main ruins are lit up during the evening, This is a very hot place during the day so we recommend you take shorts and t-shirt, a hat and plenty of water and sun cream. Once you have seen all the ruins you can have a walk round the small town, it really is very small, with shops bars and restaurants. Once you are done just walk back to the bus park and get the same number bus back to the hotel. It really is a very nice half a day out and you cant go wrong getting the bus, dont be afraid. Alot of people got taxis but this seemed a waste of money (20TL) once we knew how easy getting a bus was.
The beach at the hotel looked really nice but we never spent a day down there. We only went there to get the chicken shish sandwiches offered there after 11:30am. The beach had its own bar with food and plenty of shade for people. The beach was windy compared to the pool. On the way back from the beach you can also call and get sweet & savoury pancakes too which are free.
There is probably alot more to say about this hotel but not alot of space to say it! When you get there it only takes a few hours to find your way around, its not that big. The reception give you a piece of paper which states what time everything opens and what you can get where. The staff at this hotel made our holiday what it was. All the entertainment team were great and we will miss them most, a special thanks for Nuri the restautant manager, entertainment staff Nail, Vural and Firat for coming to dance with us alot, talk to us around the pool during the day and at night. We had such a laugh with you guys.
On day of checkout you have to be out the room at 12pm, or 2pm for a late flight. We managed to extend until 10pm for 40euros. We moved rooms to one just next to the hotel reception. The new room made things easier so we could spend a normal day by the pool and keep things normal without having to worry about getting changed and worrying about bags etc. We spoke to another couple who could only extend their room until 4pm for the same price so it must depend on availability. For room extensions do down to reception at 9am on day of departure. On the evening of departure Nuri the restaurant managet kindly gave us a food bag for the journey which included a sandwich, fruit and biscuits. This was a very nice gesture and saved us money in the airport.
As with every hotel you will always find a problem somewhere, and people will always find something to complain about, no hotels are perfect. But we would definitely consider going back to this hotel in the future.
