July 12 Goreme House, Goreme
To write Reviews I forget about after I come back home = so why not do it while we are still here and use the facilities of the house to be online!
Mean time I can get rid of my worcaholic use of the computer and do something good as to inform other people who still have not decided where to take off to for holidays.
I totally did not expect such a little haven and heaven in the middle of Cappadoccia - which I already know to be a beautiful and interesting area both nature and culture wise.
This holiday was during the first week ment to be REST from hard work and LAZyNESS and that is just working out above my expectations as I am being spoiled by all the staff, ( madam, you are allergic for oranges, what about carrot juice with your breakfast?!=marvelous) and the temperature both in the rooms and outdoors is just great for the body and mind. At least mine, as Holland was a cooking 36 degrees Celsius last week, so its a relief we decided to start the holiday here and leave simmering Antalya for the 3rd week still to come in stead of the original plan which was the other way around.
By the way - we decided to fly in via Kayseri with a stopover of 1 hour in Istanbul, which worked out much more excellent than coming from Ankara like two years ago, as Kayseri Goreme is only one hour drive with shuttle pick up arranged by the hotel!
And Goreme House really does remind me of a little hacienda with the surrounding walls and the main door to enclose the garden at night. And it has the terraces and the roofterrace breakfast and cocktal area as an extra. High above Goreme itself it gives a great view over the town and the area with very very close by a viewpoint excellent to watch the sunset. And yes everybody does make me feel Home away from Home as I heard one of the other guests call it. In the evening we walk 5 minutes to one of the nearby restaurants in town which really serve great food : also for my picky son of 13 they have excelent choise. Huge salads and plenty of veggies for mum and tasty kebab
for Aki.
Yes I really want to express our delight even while we are still here as it feels this amazing property is glowing its beauty deserving all the guests it can welcome - waiting for inhabitants for the lovely rooms which you can see for yourself = more on their website. I do hope my friends Andrea and William are able to read this and realise this is their next must go to place in Turkey.
And yes, next week when our friends will join us , we will spend more time on little sightseeing trips, the occasional swim in a very nice pool of a nearby hotel, trips to the the valley of churches and the underground city - where I have been 2 years ago but most definitely want to go again because we could not visit all floors that time. And ofcourse a balloonflight over the valley and visit the derwishdancing which is available on 4 km distance everynight. It felt as such a luxoury to not go their yesterday evening because I was still too tired, and to be able to let it wait until next week. Because I am not in an aranged tour but trusting on the expertise of the owners Murat and Pinar Ozguc who really give me all the appropriate information to do Cappadoccia in my own time & ritm. At the same time I wittnessed them direct a french couple who were here for only one day in how they could get the most out of their time and give them a route to visit the most excelent and interesting spots in that one day before heading back to Istanbul.
I cannot wait also to come back here in the winter when there is snow. I have seen some pictures and it just looks magical. My son and his father are already planning to do some snowboarding on Mount Erzies = which I am sure I do not get the name right- some 10 to 15 miles away, which will enable me to wander around in the magical landscape of besnowed fairy chimneys.
And yes I will take my siesta now, just like the previous 4 days, just after the mosque is gently letting its prayer out into the sky. And I cannot believe that in all this naturat setting I will be able to take a bath in the Jaccuzi after I wake up - AND even can upload this little sharing of my thoughts & feelings while I am in my room - right from my laptop - it really is the best of both worlds.
(I could imagine spending my winters here once I get older older :) in stead of going to Spain.
Siesta time -in the meantime this can also serve as a how am I doing for all my poor dutch working friends and the ones who will join me next week, insallah!
Ik heb het hier goed en wou dat nog even zo houden; "Later!" en Tot Ziens!
