Here, insights into the history of Turkey, the way the people lived, worshipped can all be seen from the various churches and quarters around.
Most impressionale were the various churches carved out from stone around the area, the paintings of Christ and his disciples, and how they had been defaced following enemy attacks.

Definitely worth a visit, especially so with a good guide to explain the significance of the different churches
