“A review of Club Viva (and Turkey) ...by a Black Brit Female (my room #was in the 200's)”
The lady on reception spoke very little English and at times it was difficult to communicate with her, there is a man with glasses who spoke English at a better level though communication with him was sometimes difficult. I would say the kitchen staff/waiters had a basic level of English
If you like chicken and meat that keeps you guessing then you will like the food, the food was always hot which was good and for lunch and dinner there was a number of options, I must give the hotel props for their salads and cold condiments, they always looked good and tasted fresh. The breakfasts were disappointing but I suppose it depends what you like: boiled eggs, pork, cold sliced meats and selections of bread. Every morning I stuck to cereal with cold milk as they dont do hot milk. The Tea tasted very 'stewed' so you may have to water it down.
Pure fruit juice and slusshies have to be paid for extra including if your staying (AI) also AI finishes at 11pm after that you have to pay. There is just breakfast, lunch and dinner no food in between unless you pay.
There is a mosque near by and the prayer chant goes off 5-6 times per day, including 1pm and 5am in the morning, it is very loud and may wake you up, it lasts around 5 minutes at a time, some how I missed this when booking tand researching he holiday...Im sure the mosque was there many years before the hotel so they have every right to their religious duties.
Some of the people staying there were not respectful of the time and there were a few occassions that people would slam doors and shout at the top of their voices.
We had fresh towels often and the cleaning staff did a good job and the room smelt nice after every visit, I think its the floor cleaner in the bathroom.
The games room was constantly locked and apparently opens between 10am and 4pm however it was never open and you will have to find someone (maybe from the animation team) to open it,
I booked my exursions through Adam and batman, they are a 2 min walk from the hotel and also threw in a free night boat cruise, they are cheaper than the hotel.
Its easy to get around by jumping on a bus, there is the number 2 bus that is every 5mins and goes to the bazarre and Marmaris town centre, it costs just 2LT
You must take a visit to Icmeler (not sure of correct spelling) market which is held on Sundays and Wednesdays, many a bargain can be bought, you take the number 2 bus to Marmaris centre and then get the orange bus from there
I wouldnt go back to the hotel but I would certainly visit Turkey again.
****If you are black then you may get other nationalities being fascinated by you and looking at you longer than necessary and wanting to take pictures with you, when I was first asked I thought it was a one off but when it kept happening I got slightly annoyed, if you go on excursions it may increase too as there are many tourists in one place, if you have locs then it may be heightened a bit more I was asked a few times by Turkish people about my hair, but never in a way that got me annoyed, ive aske a couple of black females that I know and they agreed they too had been asked to be in pictures***********************
I was in a room in the 200s over looking the pool, the patio doors are good at sound proofing
