Stayed in this hotel from 20 to 29 July 2012. I have been in Turkey 6 times so I am experienced enough to compare. Grand Pasa is maximum 4*, not 5*. Yes, hotel is clean, pool is amazing, food is awesome, 9 days were not enough to try everything they served. But some things really show that this is not 5*.
First of all, it does not have its own beach. You should walk around 10 mins to get the other hotel beach. It was always easy to find free sun beds, no problem with this. But there was no free bar at the beach. Even water you need to buy. And I did not see any shower there, so after the sea you have to go back to the hotel to have a shower. And also be careful: there are too many rocks in the sea, so you can easy damage your feet.
In the hotel they did not have bottled water. Only coolers. So if you want to get a bottle before going out you can’t do this, you have to buy outside.
Another one disappointment is poor animation. Really poor. I have seen such animation before but it was in December when normally nobody goes to Turkey and no need to have an entertainment team. But here, the hotel was full, too many children and almost no activities. They did only water gym and mini disco for children. In all the hotels I had been before this hotel, animation teams did really amazing shows, but here they invited break dance team and belly dancer. So 30 mins of dance and that’s all, no more entertainment, go to your room and entertain yourself how you can. And what annoyed me too much is that the belly dancer and other guys who had been invited for show asked for tips. When you go to a concert or show do you expect somebody asking for tips? You come to relax; you don’t need to carry money with you as this hotel is all inclusive. So when those guys started asking for money I really felt very uncomfortable because even I did not take any money with me!
Our room was nice, but seems like it was cleaned only inside, balcony they never cleaned even after some tips given. The problem is that there was another one hotel in from of our room. It was very noisy, no chances to sleep until midnight. For me it is ok, but if you have children you’d better ask for a quit room (if they have any because hotels are everywhere and situated very close to each other). For us there was a positive moment: as our entertainment was poor we could go to the balcony and watch another hotel’s shows which were always very good and funny.
The safe box was for extra money and we paid 7USD per each day. One day we could not open it because something went wrong with the mechanism. So we had to ask for their manager to come and unlock. Actually seems like our room was just unhappy room because right after the safe box our door locker stopped working properly. The card inside of it stopped working all of a sudden and the light and air-conditioner were switched off automatically. After they changed the card it repeated in a few days.
A few words about the treatments they offer in the hotel. We tried hammam (Turkish bath), this really cost the payment they ask for it. But young girls, be careful with the massagists, one of them (fat one) is really insolent.
What disturbed me too much is smoking. In Turkey smoking in public places and even in hotels is forbidden. But people were smoking in front of the pool where children were playing, in the snack bar, during evening ‘shows’ and nobody from hotel’s staff informed them that smoking was not allowed. It was annoying for me as a non-smoking person. Also what I noticed is that British teens liked to put their feet with shoes on the tables in lobby bar. I don’t think that is it polite to other people which come after them and sit in front of the table where their dirty shoes were put. And I think it is responsibility of the staff to tell people not to be like animals.
I can write more but I think it’s more than enough to understand the level of this hotel. In general it is good but 4 stars only, I don’t think that I can go there again.
