The rooms at this place are comfortable enough and a decent size, and the location is pretty convenient. However, the hotel has no soul and the staff tries hard but comes up really short in terms of making you feel like a valued guest. I think they are mostly used to dealing with tour groups who take care of a lot of the personal attention details, and aren't sure what to do with individual tourist travelers.
The breakfast buffet was just OK. Only ate the dinner buffet once, and it was decent for $20, but it's comparatively easy to find a full Uzbek meal at a good restaurant for about half that price.
As this was the midpoint of our trip in Uzbekistan, we needed to do laundry, so used the hotel's laundry service which is *very* expensive. They lost 3 items of our clothing and didn't believe us when we told them the items were missing. We didn't bother trying to ask for compensation for the lost items, it was challenging enough to get them to take the cleaning charges off the laundry bill.
Internet is unbelievably expensive at $6 per hour, only works in the lobby, and doesn't support VPN connections (I paid an average of about $1.50 per hour elsewhere in Uzbekistan).
If I return I will stay at the Malika Prime instead.
