“Beautiful Family Resort”

Furama Resort Danang

14 Apr 2008

I truly recommend this hotel for families looking for 5 star comforts but do not have to pay the 5 star prices.

We (family of 2 adults and 2 children) have just arrived back to Australia after a 8 night stay at the Furama and now suffering post holiday blues, all because the Furama makes you feel like you are in paradise.

The staff are all geniunely friendly, extremely flexible. The buffet breakfast was first class with an extensive selection from bacon & eggs to sushi. We just about tried everything on the menu and could not fault any of the foods even the lamb souvalki with feta was amazingly delicious not to mention the authentic vietnamese dishes. Buffet dinner was very well priced at only $25 US which included lobster and rib eye steak cooked to your
liking.

Massages by the ocean pool or by the garden lagoon pool where sensational at only $15 US for a 30 minute back massage - excellent price which meant we treated ourselves every day to a massage. Phuoc the masseur was very good highly recommend to book him in advance.

Our babysitter which we regularly requested Kim Ha was very caring and most importantly was loved by the kids - the kids preferred each night to go back to the room with the babysitter and watch cartoon network rather than stay with us at dinner or go into Hoi An.

We had an amazing room overlooking China beach although they initially do not seem overly large the room well served their purpose and did not feel cramped, it was beautifully appointed , very clean and the balcony was a good size with beautiful views.

China beach can be rough with high waves, it was well supervised by hotel lifeguards and the sand was very clean and just like in the postcards. Although our children enjoyed the lagoon garden pool and it catered well for both my 5 year old and 8 year old.

The only recommendation and not a fault is the need to consider adding more outdoor dining seatings, as the Terrace restaurant was always fully booked and we were not able to experience the alfresco dining experience we so very enjoy doing when on holidays.

It is only about a 15 or 20 minute drive to Hoi An and only 5 minutes into the interesting industrial city of Danang - must go to the Hanh market to experience some true vietnamese bargaining to get those silk pyjamas and fake brand luggage.

Thank you Furama for adding to our paradise holiday memories and hope to return shortly.

Your comments on your family stay with us are very much appreciated as we have been working hard on coming up with ways on how we can better take care of families at the Resort .
Having beautiful sunny , cloudless days always helps but we have recently introduced activities such as Introduction to Scuba Diving, and Pitch and Putt Golf which the "younger adults ' seem to be enjoying very much .
I have also noted that you have kindly mentioned two of my staff by name . I will make it a point of giving Phuoc and Kim Ha special service awards in recognition of their excellent efforts in taking care of you during your stay with us .
I would also just like to mention that we are planning an extention to our Ocean Terrace Restaurant where by we are enclosing part of the area to become our new Italian Restaurant which will have 80 seats in Airconditioned comfort and an additional 80 covers on the Outdoor Tearrace overlooking the Pool on one side and China Beach on the other .
The Terrace has just had the additional outdoor seating put in place last week.
The Team and I hope you will be able to come to Furama again on your next Family Holiday and we look forward to being able to show off all the improvements we have been able to achieve .
Hope to see you soon.

“Disappointing”

The Furama is in a lovely setting and the rooms are great. However, compared to other Vietnamese hotels I have stayed in recently (Victoria Hoi An and Park Hyatt Saigon) it is let down by its staff and service. When we arrived we were told the interconnecting rooms we had booked ages in advance were unavailable and that there was no other option. Additionally without going in to long detail the restaurant staff have very limited english and poor service skills with a less than perfect attitude. For these reasons I would avoid a return stay, other hotels are coming on line soon including a new Hyatt.

We too were disappointed that we could not give you connecting rooms on the first night of your stay with us .
We were presented with a situation that didnot allow us meet your expectations and for this I appolized t o you personnally . My Front Office Manager also spoke to you and we were able to put things right from the second night as well as send you some "goodies" with our compliments and applogies.
Standards of English in Asia are a problem that pretty much every Hotelier has . English training is an ongoing excersise. We at Furama have just conducted an IELTS standard English Test for all front line staff and have employed a new English Teacher to set classes accordingly to the different levels of English so that we can better improve at a quicker pace .
In relation to your comments on staff attitude, I'm some what surprised , as you will have seen from other recent revievers that they rate our staff attitude as very high . Of course nobody is perfect and we will endevour to keep improving on this as well .
Your comments are taken in a constructive way and my management team and I will take them on board and ensure that improvements are made .
Thanks for taking the time to give us your thoughts .
Hope to be able to welcome you back to the Furama sometime in the future .

“Beautiful location, overpriced for some services”

Furama Resort Danang

The location of the Furama is absolutely beautiful. The beach is wide, sand is clean and our rooms opened right onto the beach. The Furama is currently the only hotel on that stretch of beach so it is not at all crowded. Rooms are nice. Staff are very helpful and friendly. It's an incredibly relaxing place to stay and highly recommended. We stayed 7 days.

The breakfast buffet is quite good but the other food that we had there wasn't quite up to expectation, especially considering the prices charged, which we considered expensive for Vietnam. Normally, when you travel in places like Thailand, etc, the food at the hotel is often quite reasonable. But high prices at the Furama, such as US $8.00 for a tuna melt or US $25 for the evening buffet was a bit of a disappointing surprise. Disappointingly, the two best bowls of Pho that we had were at the airport on arrival and departure. That's pretty bad when airport food bests the five star hotels similar offering. In fairness, some of the food we had was quite good but it was inconsistent.

Thanks very much for taking the time to give us your comments and very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us .

It is our desire to be very competitive in our pricing of our menu's .
We in fact do quarterly surveys of other 5 Star Resorts in Vietnam as well as checking the prices charged in Hanoi and HCMC.From this we beleive our prices are very fair and resonable .
Our Buffet Dinner is $ 25.00 per person but also includes a glass of the wine of the month and includes a selection of over 15 salads,10 appertizers,15 main courses ,6 B>B>Q grill items , 15 desserts and 15 fresh fruits .
Prices in other 5 Star Resorts vary from $25 to $40 per person .
Prices in similar standard Hotels in HCMC and Hanoi tend to be more expensive .
Most comments we recieve from guests feel that our prices are resonable and competitive .
Pho is a very sensitive subject with the Vietnamese and every body seems to have a different opinion on it . The types and styles of cooking Pho vary depending on where you are having it and of course who is cooking it . It's very much down to personnel taste and likes and dislikes . Seems that every body says that their receipe is an old family receipe thats been handed down through the generations and its very interesting how much it can vary in taste and in presentation.

Having said that we can assure you that we are watching our pricing at all times and will act accordingly should we find the situation change .
Thanks again for your comments and we hope to welcome you back to Fabulous Furama again soon .

Just returned from the Furama in Danang which we enjoyed immensely. We have travelled widely throughout the world and this resort had the friendliest and most obliging staff we have ever experienced.Nothing was a problem from the airport pick up to the return to the airport. Management and all staff are to be complimented on their presentation and overall performance.

Great to get this type of feed back . We have recently implimented a new Customer Satisfaction Program which allows us to react very quicky to some things that need our attention .
Getting this current info from our Guests allows us to make improvements even still while the guests are staying in Resort .
This way they see that we care and that we are actioning any concerns they may have .

The positive feed back that we have been getting now is even higher than previously recieved ,so we are happy with the way things are going and the improvements in service and facilities that we have been able to achieve .
We will not stop there as we are always looking for ways of improving and we really appreciate Customer Feedback .
We like to do things well and we like it when your guests are more than happy to send us feedback . Thanks for your positive feedback as it shows us we are headed in the correct direction .

“A Great Resort!”

Stayed at the Furaman Danang for 5 nights in September 2007, and it was simply marvelous!!! Nice hotel and friendly staff.

We booked an Ocean Deluxe room and loved it. Both room and bathroom are spacious and nicely furnished. At the balcony are 2 chairs + 1 table, and a reclining beachchair. Good TV channels, ample wardrobe space + digital safe.

Only thing I didn't like was after 2 nights, the floor and rug become dirtier from I suppose the lack of diligent vacuuming, At the back of the toilet area there were also a carved wooden decoration covering the frosted window area, and I could see a layer of dust and (what looked like) spider webs.

The kids loved both pools, and the private beach area is pure divine. White sand and an abundance of beach chairs, kiddie play-area, and sea sports loan/rental available. Hotel staff are prompt with towels, and are friendly and helpful.

Indochine restaurant serves a great selection of cuisines and great iced Viet coffee with milk and ice. We love the french fries. Wonderful service too.

We asked for hotel's recommendation and dined at Apsara and Blue Whale, both served great food and service was good.

Rate was pricy, but overall experience is definitely worth the money.

Thanks for the possitive feed back and more than happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us . .
We just recently introduced the Vietnamese Coffee Station to our Breakfast Buffet as I received alot of comments from guests who said they wanted to try this fabulous coffee but didnot know how to order it , so we made it easy for them to try it . Staff are on hand to explain and help if guests wish .
I also see that you were impressed with our welcome drink . Its presented in a unique way and im sure many Hotels will copy , but one thing they wont be able to copy is the receipe as it was given to me by a very nice lady from Hanoi, Madame Binh ,who told me that it is her Grandmothers receipe . I have promised her I will not tell anyone about the old secret family receipe.
The carved wooden decoration in the Bathroom is I'm afraid a design fault and a bit of a "Dust Collector'. They are scheduled to be changed soon when we start to upgrade and redecorate our rooms .
Very happy that you liked the food and service . My new Executive Chef has been with me for just 1 month and the standard has been improved greatly in that short period of time .
New menus will be introduced over the next month and we will start our Buffet Dinners in the Cafe Indo Chine as of the 1st Dec 2007. . Thanks again for your comments and we hope that you will return to Vietnam and the Furama Resort Danang soon .
