Dear Readers;

Check In
I arrived at the Furama around 7:00 pm on Monday, very good hospitality, they welcome you very nicely, just sit at the sofa and a nice welcome drink and they will bring everything you need for check in. Before moving on to the room they gave me a breakfast coupon for 2 adults. I ask about breakfast for my kids 3 and 6 years old, they say no problem. Anyway I am staying until Saturday.

Breakfast
I was there for 5 days and they are serving exactly the same breakfast everyday.
For the first day I had breakfast with my kids, there is no charge. But the secong day they charge me for US$ 8 per kid. I tell them when I check in the front desk says ok, and I arguing with them and came out the restaurant manager says that children over 4 yrs old must pay for the breakfast. So end up me and the restaurant manager go to the front desk and I am telling the front desk about when I check in, they says my kids is ok without saying any charges. Guess what I got the answer from tne front desk manager : "Sorry about the misinformation that my staff tell you, I will tell my staff next time should ask the age first," Whaoo, a 5 stars hotel with so bad management. Well, I still arguing with them thats your management problem, not my problem, if you tell me when I check in, its ok I pay US$8 more. Anyway I am staying not in a standardroom, I am staying at Ocean view deluxe
that cost me US$ 250 / night. End up, you're still the loser, you still have to pay.

Expensive
While I was the the exchange rate US$ 1 = 16800 vietnam dong
While playing at the pool I ordered a beef burger for my kid cost me US$10, and it is a beef burger with just burger and a piece of meat without any lect or tomato, some fries that is cut directly from potato with the skin on it. After finishing, I get another beef burger for the same price but the beef burger come out different, now is a standard beef burger with tomato and lect, good fries that is like McDonald, very bad food standard.
Order 1 bottle of vietnam beer Larue 330 ml cost US$ 4.
Just across the street right in front on the hotel, 1 can Larue beer cost you 12,000 vietnam dong, not even US$1, go up further from the hotel will cost you about 8,000 vietnam dong.

Late check out
As we all known check out time is 12 noon.
Tuesday night around 8 pm I go to the front desk request for a late check out on Saturday, they tell me come back tomorrow, I think maybe is night time, I be back. So Wednesday morning after breakfast I was back to the front desk again request late check out, and they tell me AGAIN come back tomorrow. Ok on Thursday morning after breakfast Again I was back to the front desk requesting late check out for saturday AND unexpected answer you will not believe, they answer "Please request it on the day you check out, so is on Saturday". They should tell me on Tuesday night and not telling me to come back tomorrow.
At last, Saturday, I ussual after breakfast back to front desk requesting for late check out, now I got a respon from them, they look through the computer, waited about 10 minutes and they ask me till what time, I answer around 3 - 4pm, and they answer directly NO, if you want you must pay 50% from the room chrge.....
If you are not willing to give a late check out, just say so and not ask the guest waiting and asking what time the need. Very very disappointed with a 5 star hotel. I was so disappointed and I go to the Guest Relation and complain about everything, and I told them such a bad services and management. End up the Geust Relation call the front desk and talk to them and at last they say ok, cause my flight is 6:30pm. When I was checking out at 3pm, there is a guest come to the front desk requesting late check out for tomorrow, they say OK and will charge him US$90 until 3pm. Also while I am checking out, there is a guest just check in, he book for Oceanview Deluxe but they gave him at the ground floor (I am at the 4th floor), he is requesting for higher floor, they are telling him is full and try to shift him to a regular room at higher floor. But the guest gets angry saying he is paying for the Oceanview Deluxe, not a standard room, then the front desk look in the computer for a while and say yes to his request (For your information, when the guest requesting a higher floor, they didn't even look in to the computer and try to shift him to regular room. And fyi, while all these days I was at the front desk, there are only 1 or 2 guest there, and they have about 4 - 5 people working at the front desk).
To all there Readers, good luck staying at Furama Danang.
FYI, Crown and Hyatt Hotel is coming at Danang, HoiAn, 30 mins drive, more crowded, looks like a better place to stay.

I to am disappointed , due to the fact that you have left the Resort feeling disappointed.
I wish that you had mentioned these issues to a member of Senior Manangement when you were here where by we could have expained further as it seems that you may not have all the correct information .
I have checked your Reservation which was made via our Website and our Website clearly indicates our child breakfast policy . Your Reservation Confirmation also clearly states that childrens breakfasts are not included in your Rate . You also ommitted in your Reservation Request that children would be accompanying you as it only states a request a Room for 2 adults . So in fact all this information was given to you prior to your arrival .
Beef Burger's on the Pool Menu are in fact $8.00 and not $10.00 as you have mentioned .
The menu states that what ever extras you would like to have are included in the price . If no mention of extras is given by the guest to the waiter then a plain burger with Jumbo Fries is served . On another menu , from a different out let , we also have a Queensland Burger (at the same $ 8.00 price ) but it specifies what trimmings come automatically with the order .
From our Kids Menu , a plain burger ( as Kids seem to like this one better )and fries is priced at $ 6.00 is offered .
In reference to your request for late check out we are not able to confirm this so far in advance as it will depend on Room availablity . The Resort has been running on full Occupancy since the beginning of July and the availability for late Check out will vary from day to day depending on the circumstances . This of course should have been expalained to you in a better fashion and for this we appologise .
Im also afraid that I cannot agree with you about the daily Buffet Breakfast . There are standard items that must be served at Breakfast each and every day which of course we do , however we have a menu rotation in place which ensures there some 20 or so more menu items , are changed daily.
Again Im really dissappointed that you didnot contact one of the Senior Team Members who would have been more than capable to explain some of these issues to you which I hope would have prevented you from leaving us with such bad feelings .
I'm sorry that it happened this way .
I also hope on your next trip to Vietnam you will visit us again and experience a much more enjoyable time with us .
I look forward to having that opportunity .

The hotel is about 10-15 minutes from Da Nang airport. It is a typical 5 star resort hotel, and for the most part my expectations were filled. Rooms are extremely comfortable, huge beds, clean. Bathroom very clean, walk in shower. Beautiful grounds. One lagoon swimming pool, one infinity, both very clean. Beer and wine not too extortionate. Good massage facilities, decently priced. Staff very attentive and friendly. The beach is clean, the water warm. Good sporting facilities on the beach. You could be tempted not to leave the resort for the whole of the time - but as a typical 5 star resort you could be anywhere in the world, and it is a waste of travelling time and money to remain in the hotel for the duration of the stay. If you stay in the hotel for the whole of your trip you will not feel that you have been in Vietnam. The beautiful town of Hoi An is only 20-25 minutes taxi away, chaotic Da Nang 10 minutes. Taxis are quite expensive compared to other things in the country (appr 17 US to Hoi An), and make sure you have arrangments to get a taxi back, as we found ourselves in Hoi An trying to flag a taxi when there are practically no cars on the road, only motorbikes.
Staff in the hotel speak reasonable English, but English is hardly spoken in Da Nang and Hoi An, which is a challenge but they try very hard, and it is really not a problem with a bit of goodwill
There is a small nightclub which was OK (and again, drinks reasonably priced), but extremely noisy.
The only other thing I did not like too much was the food. It was on the whole quite westernised, although the barbecues were very good. However this may have been down to the fact that we were travelling in a large group, so I do not feel qualified to comment on the overall standard.
I enjoyed my stay there, and would probably stay there again, partly due to the fact that the Vietnamese people are one of the most friendly people I have come across. At the moment the area is still fairly uncommercialised with only a handful of resorts along the coast - however there is extensive building work from the hotel to Hoi Ann (not visible or in earshot of the hotel), with names such as Hyatt building resorts there, and I feel that the whole area may lose some of its charm within a few years.
Definitely to be recommended as long as you do not confine yourself to the hotel for the duration or you will miss out !

Most happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and thanks for taking the time to give us your thoughts .
In relation to taxi's to Hoi An you are correct about the prices , however the Resort provides a complimentry shuttle bus departing the Resort at 10 .00 am each morning with a pick up return around 3.00pm in the afternoon , so transport to Hoi An need not be a cost to Resort guests .

Re the Food during your stay being westernized , Group Organizers choose the menus and normally oppt for dishes that will please the magority of the group . Our Cafe Indochine has an extensive a la carte Vietnamese menu and also many other asian dishes .
Our dinner buffet also includes a Vietanmese and Asian section with over 20 different dishes served each night .So the choice is wide and varied .
The Team and I are also working on introducing what we call "Traditional Vietnam Style ' which are a number of things you will see and experience which are typically Vietnamese , so that guests will experience more of a "Vietnamese Feelling " during their stay at Fabulous Furama .
Thanks again for your comments and we hope to be able to welcome you back soon .

Two nights at the Furama were wonderful.

We tried to get the pool view room to save money, but none were available. We upped the ante and reserved the ocean view for about $220 a night. Upon check in we were given a ground level room and could see some of the ocean through the ferns and ground buildings. We asked for a higher room and an hour later we were two floors up with a fabulous view. Make sure you get up at least one story- it makes a huge difference.

Jet lag had us up at sunrise for an amazing site. Tons of locals are out walking and exercising on the beach at 5am. We joined them and got a warm welcome from folks not accustomed to seeing very white caucasion, and hairy (me, not my wife) people on their beach.

Service was first rate and the buffet breakfast specaular. We avoided the dinner buffet for fear of eating too much.

Accross the street are some wonderful little shops to buy custom silk clothes and marble. We liked the marble so much they took us to their factory and we bought a five foot sculpture that is being shipped back to the USA at a bargin rate. Also check out Marble Mountain that is right there by all the scuplture shops. Be sure to bargin like crazy! The first price comes way down with a bit of tenacity!

Highly reccommend the Furama.

Our Ocean View Rooms are our most popular and due to this demand we will be upgrading 20 rooms to be our new Ocean Studio Suites .
These new suites will bring a higher level of luxury and sofistication to our already excellent accommodations . We know these new Suites will be in high demand when they come on line towards the end of July this year ..
We are very happy that you were impressed with the standards of service that we provide and im delighted to say that many others feel the same way.
We were just informed yesterday by the Vietnam Tourism Association that we have been voted as No 1 of the Top Ten Hotels in Vietnam for Best Service Awards . This award is given by the number of responses from visitors to Vietnam and who vote for the Best Hotel on their Website . An other great honour for us .
Thanks very much for your comments and we will continue to make all efforts in making what is already a great Resort an even greater one .
Hope to welcome you back to Fabulous Furama again soon .

My husband and I absolutely love this resort. It's extremely clean, the breakfast buffet is fabulous, the service is excellent and the staff is wonderful.

We had a pool/ocean view room and the scenery was breathtaking.

We were there for only 1 week, and I got sick from a cold for 3 days. Luckily, the room was beautiful because I got to spend a lot of time in it. When housekeeping found out I was sick, they sent flowers to my room. How's that for service!

The beach is clean and the view is magnificent.

I read in a travel magazine that this resort as rated "as one of the 10 best resorts in Southeast Asia" and I definitely agree.

It's paradise on Earth.

Had a wonderfully peaceful stay at the Furama from 11th April to 14th April.

The rooms were well furnished and cleaned a couple of times a day. Nice little touches like serving 2 little slices of cake in the evenings to each room for a sweet end to the day.

The beach is extremely clean and service is available from the deckchairs at the beach.

Infinity pool is rather small but more than enough for the number of people using it.

The resort is laid out in a way which makes it rather sparsely populated, thus, even when the usually rowdy american tourist decend on the resort, it does not get too noisy for too long.

Service in all aspects was attentive without being intrusive. Although the service staff had problems understanding the english spoken from this Singaporean's mouth, they did understand "sign language" which made everything much easier.

The location of this resort is quite isolated. The nearest restaurants are about a 5 minute (USD 2) taxi ride away. Not too good if you're lazy and want to have a quick and cheap dinner.

All in all, it was one of the most wonderful beach holiday's i've ever had. Thanks to all service staff at the Furama for such a great holiday.

Very happy to know that you enjoyed you're stay with us and thanks for taking the time to let us know .
One of the greatest challanges we have is getting the Team to be able to understand "English spoken " in any / all /or some of the many different accents , tones , mannerisms, dialects or styles that it is spoken in .
An other interesting challange is getting guests to understand "English spoken "in a Vietnamese accent . Some times difficult , but I guess its part of the pleasure ( but some times frustration ) of travel and visiting an other country where English is not the 1st language .
I will talk to our English Teacher and see if we can add some "Singlish " into our classes so that we are able to communicate with our Singaporean friends better next time La. Thanks again for your comments and hope to see you back at the Resort soon.
