“Kanku Hineno Station Hotel offers a transit traveller a stay that balances price, comfort, and convenience.”
For an airport hotel, we certainly didn’t expect much, but was pleasantly surprised on the contrary. The hotel was fairly easy to get to using the free shuttle bus from Kansai Airport; though somewhat infrequent, only one bus per hour, nevertheless it was a worry-free mode of transport.
On arrival, obviously because it wasn’t during peak season, we were offered an upgrade (from twin to double) for only extra ¥1000. Being a double, the room was therefore really spacious. It composed of large sleeping area with queen size bed and sitting area with a long couch, desk and TV, and a large bathroom. Overall, the room was spacious, clean and tidy.
The rate we paid also included a ¥1000 dining voucher that can be used towards a Viking (buffet) breakfast; food selection was somewhat small but very good quality. Bread, pastry, rice, and miso; pretty decent for a transit traveller.
The hotel is situated in a quiet and quaint neighbourhood, with small localities such as a takoyaki shop, few wine houses, a sushi restaurant, a convenience store, and a local shopping mall (AEON/Jusco); all in easy walking distance, and a great way to take in small dose of Japanese everyday culture.
Indeed not as convenient and grand but cost you an arm and a leg like Hotel Nikko, and price competitive but sleeps like a sardine as some smaller local hotels; Kanku Hineno Station Hotel offers a transit traveller a stay that balances price, comfort, and convenience. I’d give them a go again next time.
