We booked the hotel trough JTB in Kyoto and with only 4 days notice, we were able to book two single rooms for only 5000 yen pr day! That is by far ridiciously cheap, considering the location, the service and the good standard of the hotel.

We used this hotel as a base for exploring Hiroshima and Nagasaki while traveling with the shinkasen and the JR lines, so we had no need for lots of facillities in our rooms. The rooms were basic, but clean and with good standards. Being a rather tall western person, I found the bathroom a tad to tiny, but that is really just a funny point to me. :)

The hotel provided internet connection, various tv channels, pay tv, a fill yourself minibar (good idea, finally I had room for my 1 litre of coke and chocolate and didn't need to feel bad for smuggling it into the hotel \o/ ), toilets were clean and even had these funny butt-washing thingies -which I never dared to try anyway :P The hotel provided laundry service as well, good to know for long term travelers; You don't need to bring with you a ton of clothes, just clean them ie in this hotel while you stay. They had a central controlled airconditioner which kept the room at an ok temperature, even in August.

Anyway, we loved the hotel and the service we got was simply outstanding, we had to double check that the rate actually was that low because of the professionalism and the good impression we got from it. We stayed in the 10th floor in normal hotel rooms (being western and all). Highly reccomended for single/light travelers looking for an operational base to explore the south west of Japan. (it so cheap that you can stay in another city for a couple of days and have another room there too with no problems! =) ).

it was basic no-frills but clean and very liveable. most importantly, it was extremely affordable at less than 50 sgd per pax per night and right in the heart of things. if you want to be right in the middle of the night life however, do stay at Tenjin instead

the staff can converse pretty well in english, which is another plus point for them.

We only stayed here for 1 night on-route to Mt Aso from Tokyo, and though the room was very small, the hotel was very clean and in a very convenient location near hakata JR station. It is less than 1 minute walk away and near all the glitziness of Hakata. Hakata is such a big city with so many lights! highly recommended for the budget traveller for above average accommodation.

A friend of mine and I were in a jam and needed a room with two beds from 7:00 a.m. to around noon on a Saturday morning. Most hotels would turn people away even if they had rooms, but the Green Hotel welcomed us. I'm rating them above average because of the attention given to this special need-- a room, little drama, quick check in and even faster check out.
My only problem was that the hotel may not accommodate non-Japanese reading guest very well. I wanted to call the front desk for a wake up call and for the life of me, couldn't figure out what to dial. Zero didn't work, the phone instructions were in Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana. There was however an alarm clock in the room, and it worked. Contacting the hotel staff with questions and concerns was difficult and should there have been an emergecy, that would have been a major problem.
Aside from the above, the bed was perfect, shower was great and I love getting a fresh toothbrush at a hotel.
