We chose this hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews. The room was modern, very clean, and attended to by the room boy constantly. The staff was exceptional. The food was good- similar to what you might expect on a cruise. The drinks were plentiful :)

My only complaint was with the front desk staff/ reception area. Check out was 10 AM, our plane didn't leave until 2:35., and we were traveling with elderly people. We asked if we could stay in our room until 12 and they indicated that we had to pay for this accommodation. I tracked down Nicole, the assistant manager, and she said it would be fine.

There was another lovely couple from Ireland that this happened to ( leaving later that day) and Nicole refused them altogether. So, they sat there in the pool area for about 5-6 hours waiting to be picked up.

The hotel was empty ( there were a total of 9 people and 7 were leaving that day) ------so it's not as if they needed our rooms to accommodate guests.

Another time, we wanted to send a quick email to our travel agent in Nairobi to indicate that are flights had been switched. I would think that a "small luxury hotel: would accommodate such a request, and send the email. But, we were told that we had to use their internet service for this. Which was no big deal but the computer was antiquated, and the internet BEYOND SLOW. And for this luxury, we had to pay 4.34 cents US. The next day, my friend had to get her return seats on a BA flight home. They had moved this piece of junk computer to the hotel next door which was opening that day. Again, no big deal except we had to wait forever to get online. It took so long, that our connection kept timing out. Discouraged, she just let it go, and wasn't able to get her seats. They did have newer computers used by management, and it would have been no big deal to allow her to use it and/or to provide the service.

When they left me a hotel recommendation sheet to fill out, I noted these complaints. The next morning, 4 people apologized to my husband regarding these complaints. But, the bottom line is, if you are a member of the Small Luxury Hotels, these small details, which tend to stress people out, should have been catered to.

On a positive note, my husband left his hat in a taxi coming from the airport, and Nicole actually tracked down the cab driver ( this was self initiated) who indicated that he would return it IF we used him to take us back to the airport.

All in all, as long as you don't have to deal with the front desk, and don't need the internet, you will be pleased with the hotel. From what I could tell, it really was the best hotel in the area.

DREAM OF AFRICA

Before I write a review of our two week stay at this outstanding intimate hotel, I would like to stress to all potential visitors to Kenya that the past troubles do not effect visitors and never has.

Kenya relies very much on tourism, and is as safe as ever. They need us !!!

Everything at this Hotel is very much 5*, all of the staff are trained to the highest standards, nothing is any trouble at all. It would be unfair to single out any one member of staff, this reflects very much on their training by the management.

The quality of the suites, the cleanliness and the layout are second to none.

The meals are outstanding, there is always something on the extensive menu, and should there not be something you fancy , the chef will prepare you something

In my last 5 visits to Kenya this Hotel proved to be the best.

Some people complain about the Beach Boy’s, however they are a mine of information if you take time to listen to them. They are only trying to earn a few shillings, the lack of tourists have hit these people hard.

Safaris and trips, there are many outlets who are trying to sell you these, from the Hotel Travel Agent to the Village Agents, also some Beach Boys.

I did many weeks of research before I booked our Safari and Balloon Trip to the Massai, I eventually booked with Abdul of Tunda Tours. I was informed that he was a Beach Boy, this is not true, this man is Top Class Business man who as the highest standards and ensures that everything is 100%.plus !!!

Thank you Dream of Africa for giving us the best dream to remember, and also a big Thank you to Abdul “Tunda Tours” for an unforgettable 3 day Safari !!!!!!!

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Dream of Africa and found the hotel and staff to be great. When we needed help the people there went out of their way to help espcially Nicole the manageress. The food was good and the facilities were fine. For Safaris etc. I recommend you get in touch with Abdul at "araxman17@yahoo.com" he is a very helpful guy who comes well recommended through other people who have been. The beach boys are a little bit of a nuisance but they are not overly pushy (although that may depend on your point of view) and they came to my wife's assistance when she was on the reef walk. The star and garter is a nice place to visit in the town. Please take anti-histamine pills and cream with you as the mossies can be nasty. The place felt very safe and we often walked the markets with only the taxi driver (Israel or Gabriel) who sit at the gate. I hope you all have a great holiday and make some wonderful friends we certainly did.

Where do you start with a review on this fantastic hotel? The staff are amazing, the rooms extremely comfortable and your every whim catered for. From the Relations Manager (Nicola) to the Head Waiter and Butler (Dola and Timothy) right down to the pool boys, army of waiters and cleaning staff. They are relaxed, polite, funny and great company. Nothing was too much trouble, and they always served you with a smile. The weather in June is the end of the rainy season but even that didnt bother us! The only complaint we had was that they fed you too much and you end up with a bigger beer belly than when you went! The food is unbelievable, and they cater for vegetarians and fussy eaters too! An absolutely fantastic hotel that deserves it's reputation.
