I was not so much a internet search person before my honeymoon but i wanted to make my wife feel special by finding the best hotel for our honeymoon.
I looked up the internet and found travel trip advisor and since then got hooked on to it. i do not make any more trips without Trip Advisor reassuring me on the hotel.
Langkawi - Casa del mar was a find from Trip advisor.

The hotel was a fantastic experience. Right from the moment you land to when you leave , the staff make sure you feel like a guest to their home. The best part was that even if you leave and go out of the room 2/3 times a day, someone would come in to clean up dishes, bedsheets etc. we loved sitting on the porch and watching the beach. The sea and clouds with rain made it more romantic. some nights we had a storm and i loved the sound of the ocean and walking on the beach a little late in the night after the storm. very safe and quite a lovely resort. market outside makes sure that you always have something when you want it.
We took a car and went around langkawi . this is the best way to ensure you get to see everything.
the hotel breakfast is great and there is enough fruits, milk cereals, juice and regular stuff eggs/malay cuisine and we always had a great breakfast including my wife who is a vegetarian.
Bathrooms are a delight and they have the most wonderfull bathroom accessories.
i have stayed in many hotels across the world but this is one of the best and i would rate it equal to Shangrila in Singapore so you can see i do think how good it is. My wife just loved the hotel and she too thought we made a good choice
Have recomended more than a few people to go there and all have come back with the same reviews.
This year we are off to switzerland, but in some year we will return to Langkawi and i will not stay at any place but Casa Del Mar.

We stayed at Casa Del Mar for 5nights early June 08 and absolutely loved it. The location we found was great with
markets, restaurants etc outside your door (although once you are in CDM you would have no idea), the beach and views etc
were perfect and staff, service amazing. We would definatly
return. We are a couple in early 40s, we relaxed, we cycled, we
toured the island, there was always things to do if we wanted to.
A great holiday.

Okay....this is how I rate this resort, as I have stayed at many resorts throughout Asia and Casa del Mar is okay. We just returned from visiting Langkawi and spent 6 nights at CDM. We stayed there based on the reviews, many of the reviews and details are correct, especially for the service factor, this rates very high.

The rooms, nothing to brag about for the price, we have stayed at much nicer resorts at or near the same rate.....even private Pool Villas that go way beyond CDM. We stayed in an Ocean Front room, no big deal as they are directly adjacent to the other rooms which are located in front of the pool. The biggest problem is that our room had an connecting door to the adjacent room, which the resort tried to put foam in between the rooms to keep it quite....nice effort, but it did not work and we could hear everything from the room next to ours. I do not know if all of the rooms have connecting doors, but you should ask about this and for certain, you do not want a room that has a connecting door.

The beach at CDM s fine and well kept by the staff on a daily basis of cleaning it. Swimming is also fine there.

The food is okay, breakfast selections are good.....lunch....forget it...the same menu for day and night and not that good of a selection for lunch, such as no simple sandwiches.

If it were not for the staff, I would not stay there, which is one of the only good tings going here.

Compared to other areas in Asia, the price of tourism here in Langkawi is high based on my experiences...such as clothing and other items you may want to buy....not a good value here.

Would we stay there again?? Maybe...but I will certainly go back to the private Pool Villas that I have stayed in, in the past, this is the best for the value.

We stayed at Casa Del mar for a week in early June. While we had major problems at check in as the room we booked was not available and we had a 2 hour wait for an alternative room , It seems we are not the first to encounter this problem. Anyway this became insignificant as the time passes . The service from the Malay staff and the Manager was top rate and being a small operation you are not treated as just a number but more a special guest.We are planning a return probably in 2009.
