After reading the reviews of this hotel we weren't too sure what to expect. But we found there was nothing we could fault the Lake House on.
OK the location is a bit out of town, the lake it over looks is a muddy pond and you can't walk to any where from the hotel, however the market across the road is worth visiting.
There is a fairly large garden, but unfortunately due to the recent rain it was a bit too wet to allow our 2 year old to play on the grass. The staff were quiet, but polite and attentive when required.
Our room was clean and fresh, and not damp, there is mosquito netting on the windows. The road below the hotel is noisy, but we managed to sleep OK - however the staff member revving his motor bike did wake me up. The room had an ensuite bathroom with bath, tea and coffee making facilities and a nice selection of fruit. There is no TV in the room (there is one in the bar).
We had dinner in the restaurant, 100MYR for a 4 course set dinner, the wine list is expensive, we took our own wine and were charged a 50MYR corkage fee to drink it over dinner. The dinning room and bar was close enough to the bedroom that we were able to use our baby alarm in the evening. The baby cot was in good condition and generally the hotel was safe for a supervised toddler.
The hotel is expensive, but all of the good hotels in Cameron Highlands are. We paid 443MYR for 1 night inclusive of a cooked breakfast. (dinner was extra). All in all the hotel has an 1970's UK pub feel about it, but with out all the bad bits. We would stay at the Lake House again.
