Advised to book ahead for a reservation. Email response provided within a short time. We however booked at the travel desk from our hotel Le meridien. Cost 300 RM per adult which included transfers, so slightly more expensive than booking direct and getting a taxi. Excellent service on steam train by friendly staff providing light breakfast and lunch. Extra drinks for an additional charge. The few stops on route were short and gave an insight into life in parts of KK ie local shops and fruit and veg markets. Locals waved to those on the train as it runs just on two days per week. It was a pleasant way to spend a morning ( advised to arrive at 9.30am and back again by 1.30pm) and a nostalgic way of seeing the scenery. It did get pretty hot inside the carriages ( windows open and electric ceiling fans insitu) and of course the smell and the sounds of the old steam railway are very authentic.
