Take away message: The hotel is great! And the staff even better! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Details (Longish): We stayed at Hilton Madinah in the beginning of April for a few days, before heading to Makkah for Umrah. We have stayed at other good properties in Madinah and Makkah, but never at this one. We arrived from the east coast (JFK). The check-in was painless; staff was very courteous. But only one of our three rooms were ready, even though it was one hour after their stated check-in time. My thoughts instantly went to the other reviews here with stories of rooms not being ready. The other annoying fact was that the assigned rooms were all on separate floors.
Our party of 12 (adults and children) temporarily went to the only room they had ready, with a promise to call us as soon as the other two were made up by housekeeping. About an hour later, just as our patience was starting to thin, we got a call from the Guest Relation Manager, Mr. Yousef Al-Dobyani, asking how everything was. My dad asked when the other rooms would be ready (kids getting antsy cause of jetlag) and also if the rooms could be on the same floor. The manager was super nice, and offered to upgrade the two remaining rooms to a 2-bedroom presidential suite – gratis! We met him near the elevator; he is a very pleasant young gentleman and showed us the suite, which needless to say was awesome.
The presidential suite was at the corner of the building (closer towards haram), with entries from each hallway. Once you enter the private hallway, it leads to two rooms. One is a very large king with jacuzzi, and the other is a double bedroom. Then the hallway leads onto a 3rd large bathroom and a massive living /dining area (about 25 foot by 25 foot). I am not kidding when I say that there is enough seating in the room for about 20 people! This was great for our family and kids too. The view from this living room is the best there is from this hotel (see pic attached) as this corner is the one closest to haram without a building in front. It has a plasma and dvd player.
Even if I don’t consider the excellent accommodations, I found the staff very courteous and pleasant during the entire stay. We did not have any issues with housekeeping either, which we thoroughly had to utilize as we had 5 small kids altogether in our extended family. The staff at the buffet was nice, and the gentleman at the buffet entrance (I forget his name but he was from Pakistan) epitomizes hospitality.
I did not try the Wi-Fi, although it was reportedly working in the lobby area. Having that available in room would be nice.
I recommend this hotel without any qualms. I know we shall be staying here again, thanks in no small part to Mr. Al-Dobyani.
