Check-in service was efficient, no problems in locating the hotel via taxi- all you need is the name of the hotel in Chinese and the name of the building that it is located in. Pazhou is indeed very near, takes a 5 minute walk, but please bring an umbrella just in case it rains.
The hotel is basically a office/hotel, so certain floors are hotel rooms. Which also means you need to be extra patient when waiting for the elevator. Decor was nice and spacious. Provided the necessary amenities, including fast internet. The bathroom had a glass shower cubicle but be careful as there are no seals on the door so expect your bathroom to get wet. The heat of the shower water is controlled electronically, so you will have to set your desired temperature (they don't recommend anything other than 60degreesC) and wait for 15 minutes. Don't try taking shortcut by not waiting, 'cos I did and ended up taking a cold shower instead.
If you were like me, taking the Agoda package, it means breakfast is not included. Not to worry, you can either eat in the cafe downstairs at the lobby for 35Yuen. I found that the building opposite the road from the hotel- PWTC, has a massive food court. There's even McDonalds and Subway there. Buy early, 'cos your options may be limited to McD, Subways & Pizza if you get there around 5pm. If you walk along the outside road heading towards the exhibition centre, you can see the Subway sign, or you can just enter the building which is a high-class furniture & renovations building and walk towards the subway (underground).
Beware if you are staying in a non-smoking floor. From early evening until late night there was a very strong cigarette smell, really as if someone was smoking beside me. I had to sleep with the windows open, no air-con (it aggravated it) and slept by the window ledge just to get fresh air. I know it was dangerous, especially when you are 9 floors up (I stayed in room 905). It was noisy with the windows open. It was such a bad experience that I forfeited the room and left early. By the way, that's how I got sick too. Called front desk to complain but he didn't believe me and all he could do was to offer to send the room service personnel to help me air & freshen the room. Called agoda for help and intervention but the Agoda staff could not communicate the issue and the person-in-charge of the night shift cannot make any decision without the manager. I suspect that someone one the same floor was smoking and the smell travelled through the vent.
Also, I've no confidence in taking taxis that are parked alongside the road. So if you want a proper taxi you can ask the hotel staff to call one for you. Expect to pay about 200Yuen if you are travelling from BaiYun airport. Don't try taking metro..far and too many interchanges.
