We visited this area with a tour group, but were lucky enough to be able to break away and walk around on our own. It was a rainy, misty day, but that made for some wonderful pictures and experiences. The mosque itself is beautiful and was an amazing place to visit. But after the group left to walk through the shopping streets and we got ourselves lost among the locals, we really felt fortunate to be on our own. We had taken our guides' advice and used a photo of a wonderful archway near our bus parking area to find our way back. But absolutely no one spoke English, and that is why we were there. To see the culture as it is lived, not a sanitized version. We loved the afternoon spent wandering among the vendors stalls.
