What I liked best about this hotel is its location. Its probably the best in the city because its blocks from the Green Lake park but also within walking distance of many restaurants and for those needing a Walmart fix its close by as well. The lobby was open and spacious with beautiful fresh flowers, the dining room was also nice and large with a good food variety at breakfast Western and Asian. Try the Crossing the Bridge Noodles for breakfast. The rooms were small with furnishings that seemed to be pretty dated and was nothing fancy but was comfortable enough. Overall our experience was better at the Green Lake Hotel just down the street but the Green Lake is also more expensive. For more budget concious the Grand Park is the second best option in Kunming.

This is a clean, well managed hotel with nice rooms, very good bedding and a terrific location. Food is very good, especially the breakfast and staff are helpful. The only hiccup we had was the usual problem of staff turning a blind eye to smoking at a non-smoking table (right next to us) but once it was pointed out they dealt with it.

I stay here for business but would choose to stay here for leisure trips. The hotel is right across the street from the lake and is walking distance to many different restaurants. The rooms are always very clean and are a good size. The beds are extremely comfortable. Room service is always prompt and the food is good. Internet is free and fast. The Club Floor offers nice conveniences except there is no internet in the lounge. Reception staff are efficient and friendly. The gym is getting updated and has basic equipment. There is a pool as well that is rarely ever used (but in good condition). Breakfast has plenty of options. Definitely recommend this hotel.

I have stayed here multiple times over several years when travelling on business. The rooms good do with a refresh but generally pretty good.
Strengths: Some English speaking staff, rooms well cleaned, great location near the lake. Great internet connection( free) and helpful staff. The manager is responsive to staff feedback and will make changes.
Weaknesses: The standard of food has definately declined over the years. Breakfast used to be good and now just "so so". The Western food has deteriorated, swimming in oil and salt. I suspect due to the economic crisis the hotel is now increasingly catering to local tourists and the result is a change in menu, lots of smoking in the restaraunt and even in the lifts. The gym and pool area really deserves more effort.. The manager followed up a previous suggestion and bought a treadmill but the gym needs to improve.
TIP: Ladies avoid the ogreatly ver priced spa...poor quality massage and no english, vist the Blind Massage Centre instead.
