“Loved the Westin”

The Westin Kuala Lumpur

9 Jul 2008

This hotel was one of the nicer ones that I have stayed at and I was pleased by how welcomed the staff made you feel. The hotel has a great location if you like to shop and people watch (there are several markets nearby as well as many patios). The view was beautiful (I could see the Malaysian Twin Towers from my room) and the room was modern, comfortable and clean.
The Italian restaurant on the main floor as well as room service were phenomenal and I would recommend both of you are looking for a nearby, quick place to eat.

“Business class accommodation!”

The Westin Kuala Lumpur

27 Jun 2008

Stayed on 30th floor, with room overlooking Petronas Twin Towers.
Room clean, spacious with slightly old-fashioned but neutral decor. Comfortable beds & pillows. Large roomy bathroom, well maintained. Coffee (cafetiere, ground coffee!) was provided on the first day, but not subsequently! (had to make do with packet decaffeinated stuff). Breakfast was average, certainly not sumptious spread a la resort hotels. Prices were a little steep: RM7 for a 30 second call to a Malaysian-registered mobile phone, RM68 for 24 hrs internet access and RM80 for breakfast. Location was excellent - 7 mins walk to KL convention centre, next to spanking new Pavillon shopping centre, and 5 mins walk to Lot 10, Sungai Wang and Bukit Bintang plazas. Service was efficient and polite.

My partner and I were due to stay at the Westin KL for 2 nights our our way to Langkawi but after a cancelled flight we arrived late into our second day looking for somewhere just to rest our heads. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been upgraded to an Executive King Room on the Club Floor with views of the Petronas Twin Towers. Lovely!

The king bed was simply divine (I wish I could take the pillows home!) and the room and bathroom was spacious and very well appointed.

The hotel is conveniently located along Jalan Bukit Bintang across from all the designer shops, eg. Prada, Gucci, etc.. unaffordable but made for great window shopping! Lots of bars and restaurants surrounding the hotel so finding somewhere for dinner wasn't difficult at all.

The breakfast at the Westin KL was one of the most extensive and best buffets I have ever seen - spread across the entire lobby cafe with the Western and Asian dishes and also includes Treats deli with pastries, yoghurts, sweets, breads, danishes, crossaints.. the list goes on!

Fantastic hotel - you won't regret staying here!

“Great hotel”

The Westin Kuala Lumpur is a really wonderful hotel, with a nice and friendly staff, and in this case being a "chain" hotel means an higher level of quality (as usually Westin does).
Definitely, the Bukit Bintang area, where the hotel is, is one of the best areas (not a traditional one, but one with the best malls and shops and new restaurants in KL).
Wired internet connection is avaliable in rooms, though is pretty expensive (15 eur/day).
There's a nice pool area to restore from the fatigue of the day and a wonderful brand new gym with the latest Technogym equipment.
Floors from 31st up are Executive Club floors, with access to a beautiful lounge (good and varied breakfasts adn evening canapes, with a resident chef) with a breathtaking view on the Petronas Towers which, by the way, are a mere 12/15 mins walking. They are worth the extra rate.
A prepaid cab (Teksi Kupon) from KL Sentral Station is 12 ringgits (2,5 eur).

This is our 5th visit to KL but first stay at the Westin although we have had dinner there before. One of the newer hotels and we were booked into the Club Executive Level which I think is well worth the extra. Breakfast in relative peace on the 33rd Club level lounge, access all day for drinks in between shopping and evening drinks and snacks which is a nice way to round off the day. Great hotel all round, good choice of restaurants and even "Treats" coffee shop/take-away which is handy if not too hungry. Location is fantastic as it's right opposite the newest shopping centre in KL, Pavilion, which is amazing. The only downside is that the Petronas Towers views are fast disappearing behind a new tower opposite that is being built over the Pavilion shopping centre, but we would still stay there again, we can see the Petronas Towers anytime!
