“Great Hotel in chinatown, Kuala Lumpur”

We loved this hotel, it was in a amazing, happening location in the heart of chinatown, and close by public transportation, and cabs were cheap if you dont feel like battling the heat and walking too far.. The staff was really great and helpful, the hotel is big, we stayed in the deluxe room, and the beds were comfy, the room was clean, the bathroom was a little funky, and small, but overall is was a good room. The hotel is big,and a little hard finding your way to your room , but not that big of a deal. The breakfast is good, and changes daliy. It has a nice internet room, and there is a big night market in the back of the hotel on the street. There is a guy who sells the BEST chicken satay ever, he is on the street to the right if you are facing the hotel. We went to eat there twice! The backpacker hotel next door has a good travel agency, and a fun , funky bar that is open at night up on the roof. Good choice for value and location in Kuala Lumpur.

“reminded me of camping facilities”

Swiss Inn Kuala Lumpur

I was not impressed with this hotel. We had to literally get into our shower to be able to close the bathroom door and reach the toilet. There was only a shower, with just the smallest amount of lip around it, so the floor was immediately wet. It reminded me of being in a shower at a public campground. The ceiling was discolored and mildewy. There were holes (good sized!!) in the towels and sheets. And they have a screwy system for reaching the upper floors. If you enter thru the front (not true if you enter thru the back) you have to go to the 2nd floor, get out of the elevator and go around the corner and up some stairs and onto another elevator. The location was fine as far as accessing the night markets, you're right in the middle of it. (We stayed in this hotel as part of an organized tour, thus my reason for checking the "other" box.)

“Pretty good for a budget place in a big city!”

Swiss Inn Kuala Lumpur

We stayed there for 2 nights in October 2007.

The hotel is located in the middle of China town which has a great atmosphere. One side of the ground floor exits onto the night market which was good for wondering around looking for those 'authentic' bargains by night!

We booked over the internet and there were no hassles checking in. We had a deluxe room that was a bit of a maze to navigate to from the lobby (it is a deceptively large hotel!). The room itself was spacious enough, with a small bathroom, closet, and chairs to sit on if you got sick of the bed. Our room was on the same side as the night market, and as such we could hear the noise at night. This didn't bother us in the slightest as it was all part of the atmosphere and didn't stop us sleeping - those that want complete silence may wish to request a more suitably located room- or choose not to stay in china town at all :)

The bed was quite comfortable and there was really nothing wrong with the room - it is basic budget accommodation. Everything worked fine. It did feel slightly damp and smelt musky - but so does the rest of KL! If we had to be picky the building appeared to be quite tired.

Our price included buffet breakfast which was quite good, with a variety of both western and asian food on offer.

The staff were polite and we had no hassles during our stay.

In summary the Swiss Inn was great value for money for what we wanted out of the hotel.

I am an older lady and my sister and I spent 5 nights and found most things really good. We spent our first night in a standard room through a hotel mix up it was not a room to recommend. When moved to a superior room as booked we were very comfortable. Breakfasts wonderful. Staff could not do enough for us. Would stay again. Stella Lucas Tasmania Australia

I booked this place for 3 nights, to stay in Chinatown itself. I would never recommend this place to ANYONE! Access to the hotel is a task, the staff are the most unhelpful bunch ever. We flooded the shower and toliet, they did not give us new towels and the elevators nearly sliced our arms. Would definitely upgrade and spend a bit more on a nicer hotel.
