The Good
About 99% of our stay, you'll be glad to hear :) We were staying here for a weekend and as soon as we stepped through the door, we were so impressed with everything the hotel had to offer. The check in was fast and when my husband forgot his credit card pin, they rang through to their bank to verify the details instead. They even checked us in to the roomier corner deluxe rooms since we had our two year old with us.
The room itself was breathtaking. No Petronas (hubby was a little disappointed) but who cares when the room has fab kingsize bed, huuuuge TV, chaise longue, bathroom with shutters that open out to the room and included large shower cubicle, deep tub (that my son enjoyed swimming in) and all the amenities you'd want and expect...minibar, large wardrobe etc.
The facilites were also fab. Great pool (needs a bit of a jetwash though) and the Planter's restaurant had the most incredible breakfast buffet we've ever had. From Japanese to Indian to Western to Continental to Chinese to Malay, every morning we'd leave stuffed if a little bloated. Before we left, we also had a fabulous high tea in the Tiffin lounge for Mother's Day and enjoyed speedy and well-presented treats from room service.
Staff were also very pleasant without being too 'in your face.' They were really friendly with kids, took great pleasure in discussing the football with my hubby and others were very obliging with info when we had queries about getting to places or searching out things for my little boy.
The hotel is also in a great location for Petronas and Suria KLCC and other restaurants in the area. The monorail is just outside as well for trips into Bukit Bintang.
The Bad
A few gripes
Taxis: They have a blue taxi limo service running from the hotel but the cabs are on meters based on time and we felt a little duped by them. The same journey into Chinatown cost RM24 there and RM15 return when in another cab where we bargained with the fare.
Pillow: A little high for me and my small neck
Location: The hotel says that its just outside Raja Chulan monorail station which is true but if you are travelling from KL central having caught the KLIA Express, it is a little tricky with a kid, your bags and a buggy when there are no escalators or lifts! Get a taxi from the station instead!
The Ugly
Maybe a little trivial but the building is a little ugly from the outside? Which is a shame given that its so amazing inside. I blame the KL pollution but maybe a jetwash/re-paint of the exterior could jazz it up a bit and put it on par with the infamous Traders and Mandarin Oriental.
In short, a first class visit where my family were made to feel very relaxed and welcome. Look forward to returning and recommending it to all!
