We have never returned to a previous holiday destination before with the world being a big place etc. However, we enjoyed Patara so much last year that we couldn't wait to return this year.
If you want to relax in beautiful surroundings, like the sunshine, are interested in history, and enjoy the friendliness and hospitality from the inhabitants of authentic Turkish vllage then Patara is the perfect holiday destination for you.
Moreover, we were lucky enough to stay at the Patara Delfin Hotel set in beautiful gardens maintained by Mustafa, the hotelier himself. The Hotel boasts a very inviting swimming pool. The rooms are well maintained and Mosquito nets are provided. A delicious breakfast is included (cucumbers, tomatoes, eggs, honey, melon etc) all locally sourced produce. Moreover, free"Afternoon Tea" is provided at 5pm and includes delicious cake baked by Mustafa's wife. However, the biggest asset which the hotel has is the customer service provided by Mustafa and his team including his sons (Tunnihan and Gerkhan), Ismail and especially Ahmet who will do their very best to ensure that you have a fantastic holiday.
If you want discos, then maybe Patara is not for you. Nightlife in Patara consists of having nice meal in one of the restaurants or Locantas in the village. If you eat in Mustafa's own restaurant the St Nicholas for example you eat under vines overlooking the village. (I recommend the King Prawns). Or you could vist one of the tea rooms, maybe have pancake, and enjoy chatting to fellow holiday makers or the villagers themselves. All this seems a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of life at home in England. (Nb if you do want some nightlife you could always get a Taxi and visit nearby Kalkan which is more commercialised)
During our holiday we went on the boat trip to see the sunken city of Kekova which gave us the opportunity of swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Turkish Mediterranean. Saklikent Gorge is also worth a visit and is most impressive. (Have a word with Ahmet about the trips). Iwould also recommend walking to the sand dunes to watch the magnificent sunset over Patara Beach.
To sum up, a fantastic holiday experience, and a big thank you to Mustafa and his staff for helping to make the holiday so enjoyable
