We drove to Patara Beach from Kalkan in about 20 mins, There is bus service from Kalkan which I guess takes a little longer. There is a small entrance fee to pay for access.
They are laying new pathways and a parking area close by the Roman ampetheatre and there is a small tourist / sovenier shop.
It can get really hot so have plenty of water before walking the ruins.
Beach is fantastic, Choice of sitting close to the cafe ect or grab an umbrella for 5L and wander of down to quieter part of beach. Be warned, sand gets very hot so keep those flipflops on!! Cafe is reasonably priced, limited choice but enough. Service is very good.
The sea is great, wavepower can vary, we heard rumour about strong undercurrents further out but been a few times now and never experienced any issue. Worth bearing in mind though if you take children.
