My wife, two daughters (12 and 5yrs) and I stayed at the Ersan Resort and Spa, Bodrum between 14th and 28th July 2012.
We had a standard room that consisted of two single beds and a king size double. You are only provided with 1 key card per room. If requested staff will consider an extra card but this is the exception rather than the norm.
The room was bright, clean and had ample space for the four of us. The sink has no plug so you would be better to take one with you.
The banquet hall again was clean and offered a vast array of food including hot meals and salad. There was never any difficulty in finding somewhere to sit as the staff were constantly clearing tables and resetting them, whilst at the same time managing to provide a waiter service for drinks. The lunchtime menu at the Turkish Restaurant next to the Pruva Bar is worth a try as there is a nice variety and the sea breeze blowing across is very nice.
There are 4 a la carte restaurants. Bizarrely the food is included within the all-inclusive package but drinks aren’t. The drinks are quite expensive with a bottle of wine costing 90TL (approx £30). A 1.5l bottle of water costs 6TL (approx £2.20). The fried ice cream in the Mexican is definitely worth trying.
Timber decking surrounds all pools, which can cause the odd splinter and does become slippery when wet and covered in sun cream. There is no shade around the children’s pool due to the limited space although there is ample shade around the complex.
A few of the slides require rubber rings to facilitate use and these rings are extremely limited causing quite a wait in order to go down the slide.
The Aqua Bar only serves soft drinks and beer, (Give my regards to Arkan, the barman he works extremely hard in the very hot weather and has an excellent sense of humour).
Water is provided in a small bottle per each person per day in your room and it is filtered through the drinks machines at the bars around the complex.
The clientele for the hotel is 80% French so the majority of the entertainment is centred around them as you would expect.
The amphitheatre is a long walk up a steep hill with no bar facilities within it so any drinks you want result in a long walk back to the Pruva Bar and back up the hill again.
The evening entertainment was poor. The entertainment staff are not professionals and try to cater for the various nationalities staying in the complex and this cannot be easy. Having said that there did not appear to be much use of outside professional entertainers to assist in the programme. One night was advertised as Chinese Night, I sat in hopeful expectation of watching an acrobatic show as I have previously experienced as a Chinese Night only to be presented with a street dance routine.
On the whole the hotel was excellent quality and value for money. The staff worked very hard to ensure that your stay was a memorable experience. Any problems that were encountered were promptly reported to Guest Relations who addressed the issues and efficiently immediately. The Guest Relations Manager Gokce strives for excellence and her name was frequently mentioned by families around the pool as the person to approach to resolve any issues you have no matter how minor or major. Our experiences with Gokce would only enforce this opinion, as she was excellent!!!
Would we recommend this resort to anyone else? Definitely
Would we consider returning? Definitely
