We just spent the longest week ever at A Place at the Beach III. I know this is "off" season but I didn't think that meant the resort would be un-staffed. Ok, there was 1 person in the office 9-5 Mon-Fri. And she did let us move from the 1st floor room with the view of the parking lot to a room with a view of the swimming pool- still 1st floor. And she was very nice when we complained but no one ever tried to fix any of our complaints. Ocean? sure, it was just over the dunes and could be seen from the 3rd or 4th floor balcony. If the room had been clean it would have made evenings enjoyable. But we left early and returned late taking in all the sites of the area. There is lots to see, lots of shopping and lots of beaches if you have a car to get around. We certainly didn't want to spend any time in our room. Clean towels? take the dirty ones to the designated place at the designated time and day and exchange them for clean. Isn't that convenient? Renovation is scheduled but the place is so run down it really needs gutted and rebuilt. There is a wonderful wooden walkway to the beach.

My family just got back from a week stay with some friends of ours at A Place at the Beach.

Very family friendly. The beach is within a minute's walk. The pool/waterslide is great for everyone. Rooms are spacious.

We had brand new dishes and pots/pans in our room.

Front desk help wasn't the friendliest, but I understand a management change is underway.

We loved the area and the resort so much, we bought a week from the local time share realtor! We look forward to making memories with our family for years to come.

Two days before leaving on our vacation we came across all the negative reviews of A Place at the Beach III at different websites online, and we were terrified because our reservations were confirmed and we had 7 people counting on a vacation.We hoped for the best and after an 11 hour drive we arrived. We quickly realized that the negative reviews were completely unjustified.. When we arrived at 2p.m on a Saturday, our 3 bedroom unit was not quite ready. Luckily, the clerks at the check- in desk were friendly and warm and they told us to enjoy the pool while we waited.
The outdoor pool was amazing, clean and inviting, and the beautiful beach was just a short walk from the pool. And what was great was that all the units were angled so that each unit could have a view of the beach. Each unit has a private balcony to enjoy the sun rise or sun set. Within an hour our unit was ready. The unit was newly painted inside and outside.It was clean and very comfortable. Management was in the process of replacing all the furniture and accessories. The next people vacationing at A Place at the Beach III will enjoy all new pots, dishes, towels, etc... A Place At The Beach III was clean, friendly and comfortable, and exactly what we were hoping for. We would happily vacation there again.

I've been a member of RCI since 1984 and have NEVER been so dissatisfied with making an exchange. This resort should be removed from the RCI Exchange program immediately because it is just plain filthy. Dont waste your travel week, your gasoline, your time, or your exchange fees making this resort your destination RCI members!

I phoned RCI to report my dissatisfaction and was told that Check-in Services would contact us for relocation to another resort, as Check-in Services had access to different inventory than the regular exchange customer service reps. This action also proved futile as RCI's Check-in Services was unable to do so... in mid May? Mid May is NOT peak season and surely with all the resorts in the state of North Carolina, RCI could have and should have done better than that. Dont expect anything from RCI, they only care about their profits and are NOT at all concerned about your little vacation nightmare!

I am now making a request to receive a full refund of my exchange fees with RCI. I don't know if I will actually get the refund, but I am going to continue pursuing one, and while I'm doing that, I plan to inform other travelers what they can expect at this destination.

Stay away. You'll be better off. Your socks wont turn black from walking on the carpeting.
